She yawns, using a hand to cover her mouth. Ruby purposefully set her alarm earlier, so she could tend to Newt.

Her heart makes a sad little flutter, thinking about how he tried to die. It really hurt her; to imagine the blonde boy, purposefully going into the Maze, looking for the tallest wall-

She clenches her eyes shut. Thinking depressing thoughts wasn't going to help the either of them.

Ruby forces herself out of bed, and quickly gets herself ready, brushing her hair and letting it fall down in blonde waves. Satisfied with her look and the little happiness she gets from it, she exits her hut, one of many the Builders had, well, built.

Her eyes glanced quickly at the quiet of the Glade, the forest lining the grass like a big black highlighter. And then behind, looming over like a massive shadow, the Maze. The labyrinth with its twisting walls and endless pathways. Surely one of the many paths would lead to an exit? To their freedom?

She'd heard many stuff about the Maze, mostly from Minho, who liked to brag a lot about how he 'risked his life' to get them out of here. Although, when Ruby really thinks about it, that's exactly what he did.

Every. Single. Day.

She sighs, making her way over to the Med Hut. She quickens her pace to where Newt's being kept, and lets out another sigh of relief when she sees that he's sleeping peacefully, Rhodes sitting in the corner beside him, tiredness clearly making its way across his body.

He lifts his head up when he hears her arrive, a little bit of energy returning to his sleep-deprived body.

"Anything?" She asks, casting another glace at Newt. Her friend, or so she hoped, is taking deep breaths, the sedative clearly still doing its work. Whatever drug Jeff had found was definitely the strongest of its kind.

Rhodes shakes his head, the movement wearing him out even more than it should. "Nothing. Slept like a baby. Gave me time to clean up the Hut as well."

Ruby raises her eyebrows, looking around. Now that she'd been told, the Med Hut is spotless, everything packed away tidily, not a random paper or syringe in sight.

"Good job. I'll take over now." Ruby dismisses him, giving Rhodes a sympathetic look. He'd offered to watch over Newt, and Ruby gladly agreed. The thought of giving up her sleep was not tempting, however she had promised Rhodes she'd take over in the early morning, and she had.

Rhodes' face cracks into relief, and then his eyebrows furrow as he gets up from the stool. "Make sure you keep it clean." He couldn't stand the thought of his midnight clean-up session going to waste.

Ruby makes a face. "That's a warning you need to tell Jeff and Clint."

Rhodes' expression stays the same. "Then pass the message on." He pauses for a bit. "Please." He adds, a hint of desperation in his voice.

Nothing can stop him and his cleanliness.

She just gives another sympathetic look at his direction, as he leaves the Med Hut.

The silence of the room quickly creeps up on her, as she busies herself with memorising the new layout and where everything is. As she's fiddling with the syringes, she hears movement behind her, and turns around quickly.

The bedsheets are moving, wriggling around as someone hisses in pain.

Newt.

She quickly rushes over to his side, making shushing noises with her mouth as she notes the sweat dripping down his forehead, his face crumpled up in pain. When he sees her, his breathing starts to slow down, however the expression on his face doesn't change.

"Now, this might hurt a bit, but I'm going to need to prop your leg up on a pillow." Ruby says, pulling out a cushion from behind the door and bringing it to the bed. Newt's eyes widen a little when he realises what she's about to do.

Ruby's heart pangs a little. She didn't want to hurt the boy, but she knows it'll be better for him if his bad leg is propped up.

"I'm going to lift your leg up now, okay?" Newt nods quickly in response, punching his lips together.

Ruby shakes her hands, and then carefully makes to lift his calf. Newt immediately makes a noise when she lifts the leg up, but luckily that's the only noise he makes. She suspects that he's in more pain than he's letting on.

"Do you need any painkillers-" She trails off when she sees that Newt's already fallen asleep, blonde hair sticking to his forehead.

She lets out a sympathetic smile, and glances out the window. The sun is just starting to peek through above the Maze walls, meaning the Runners would be starting to wake up and begin their journey into the Maze.

Out the window, she notices someone making their way to the Med Hut, a Runner's pack on their back. The person then disappears from her sight, and she hears footsteps growing closer and closer, then the door opens. No knock, nothing.

Ruby looks up at whoever entered, and find herself looking at a very sweaty Minho. However, he doesn't have eyes for her; his focus is trained on Newt.

She lets him look, making a mental note to ask Fry for some soup when he woke up.

"Will he be alright?" Minho's voice cracks, his eyes gaining a shadow to them. He was probably remembering the events of yesterday. She couldn't imagine how he had the strength to drag Newt out.

She lifts her head up. "He needs time to recover."

Minho nods vigorously. "Yeah, yeah." He clears his throat. "Tell me if anything else happens."

"Yeah." Is all Ruby says, as he exits the hut, for another day of running and mapmaking.

Alone with her thoughts, she sits on the stool, looking at Newt every now and then to make sure he's breathing normally.

She couldn't get the image out of her head form yesterday; her holding Newt's hips, making sure he stayed where he was while Rhodes reset the bone. She remembers his screams of pain, and her wiping his tears away afterwards.

Pain is not something she enjoys.
