"Sinong nagpa pasok sa kanya?" ang pag sigaw ni Maloi na siya namang naging dahilan para tumahimik ang lahat. I stand shocked at the sight before me.
"Nakabukas yung pinto," someone replies, but I don't bother to find out who.
There's a man.
He's sitting on a chair; no, he's tied to the chair.
Blood covers the places his eyes, nose, and mouth would typically be.
"Ano 'to?" I whisper, taking a step closer but regretting it as I see more blood all over him and the blood covering Gwen's knuckles. My eyes meet hers, and she gives me a sorry look. Not sorry that she's doing it though, I sorry that I had to see it.
"Keep her back," Maloi demands, waving her hand at Jhoanna and Sheena in the corner. They both move toward me, placing a hand on each of my shoulders to stop me from going anywhere. I wasn't planning on moving anyway. Ako na ba ang isusunod nila? "Ituloy mo," Maloi looks at Gwen, allowing her to proceed. She's standing in the corner of the room, watching over the violence with her arms crossed.
Gwen pulls back before pushing all her weight forward, connecting her fist with the man's face.
"Argh!" He screams out in agony, trying to move his arms, but they're too tightly bound behind him.
"SABIHIN MO SAKIN KUNG NASAAN SILA!" Maloi's powerful voice snaps me out of my trance on the guy, and I look at her with fear.
"I-I don't... know," the guy mutters out weekly. That only seems to fuel Maloi as she groans out in rage. Gwen takes that as her cue to strike him directly in the nose. The man attempts to scream out, but it's muffled by the blood falling into his mouth. He chokes before spitting out the crimson liquid.
"Sinungaling!" Maloi steps forward, looking down at the broken man. "Taneo!" She calls without turning around. The tall guy steps forward, looking at Maloi, awaiting her orders. "Finish him." A wide smirk and a small evil laugh erupt from Taneo's lips. He cracks his knuckles in front of him as he walks toward the man in the chair.
"Oh, I've been waiting all day to do this." A brutal cracking sound immediately follows his sentence. My eyes shift to the man in the chair and where Taneo's fist has connected with his cheekbone. A now broken cheekbone.
"Yan lang ba kaya mo?" Maloi smirks, looking at Taneo challengingly. His smirk only grows as he takes another step toward the man.
"Relax ma'am, nagsisimula pa lang ako." I watch in horror as Taneo beats the man to a pulp. I don't think there is a part of his body that Taneo hasn't touched. Bruises form everywhere, and blood seeps out of his skin.
I'm disgusted by everything, but I can't look away.
Gusto kong sabihin na tumigil na sila, Pero natatakot ako na baka ako na ang isunod nila.
"Ready to talk?" Taneo snarls but doesn't stop beating him. The man only groans in refusal. Bakit nila ginagawa ito?
When the man starts coughing out blood, I finally look away, not being able to handle the torment they are imposing on him. I turn to Maloi, seeing she is already looking at me.
"Bakit niyo ginagawa 'to?" I whimper out, feeling my insides turn sour.
"He's doing this to himself," Maloi stated quickly before moving toward the door. "Sundan mo ako." Jhoanna and Sheena immediately released my shoulders from their grasp and stepped back, allowing me to walk to the door. I wait for a moment, taking a long look at the dying man. Then I turn to the door and jog after Maloi.
"Mamamatay na siya, You have to stop Taneo!" Maloi whips around, looking at me calmly, but I can see the fire behind her eyes.
"Why do you care? Hindi mo naman yun kilala," Maloi brushes off my statement as if my opinion is nothing. Tuloy-tuloy lang siya na naglalakad, heading toward the glassed-in room. I will not get thrown around like dirt from her.
"No one deserves to die!" I don't know where my confidence came from, but when I shouted, her body stopped. I don't know what she's thinking because I can't see her face, but when her fists close and her arm muscles tighten, I feel the tremble run through my body.
"Lower your tone," Maloi mutters. I can see her breathing deeply, obviously trying to calm herself. Well, kung gusto niya akong patayin, ginawa niya na sana.
"O ano?" Maybe I'm pushing too hard. I want some answers.
Maloi's body is right in front of me in less than a second. Her chest is in line with my chest, and we are face-to-face. I can hear her breathing and feel her breath on my lips.
We're so close, yet I don't feel scared.
"What are you going to do, Maloi?" I whisper it now, our proximity making the moment so fragile.
The girl gulps as if she is scared or doesn't know what to say.
"What made you like this?" I search her eyes, looking for some answer. She isn't giving me anything. She may look on edge, but her emotionless eyes give away nothing. "Sinong nanakit sayo?" That struck a nerve. For a split second, her eyes soften, and it almost looks like she might cry, but the moment is gone, and her fierce eyes are back.
"Get in the room," she snarls, pushing me away from her stern before walking into the room. I stumble backward, almost falling over, but catching myself on the computer desk.
Choosing the smart option this time, I follow Maloi without any defiance. We enter the small room, which I have now dubbed the bedroom.
"Sayo ba 'to?" I ask, referring to the room, but Maloi only turns to me in question, her eyebrow raised.
"Anong akin?"
"The room... this whole place, actually."
"It's under my name, yes. And I do sleep here... when someone else doesn't occupy me." Someone else? What does that mean-oh, I get it.
"Right, so you like to sleep around?" The question comes off more judgemental than I had planned it to be, but I don't retract my statement.
"Are you judging me, Y/L/N?" Maloi gives me a sly smirk as she takes a step closer to me. I step back but immediately hit the closed glass door behind me.
"H-hindi kita jinajudge... not really. It's just," I pause, thinking of the proper wording. "Immoral?" My statement comes out more like a question, and I internally smack myself for not being more confident.
"Tinatanong mo ba ako or sinasabi mo sakin?" I look down at my feet, not knowing what to say. I'm embarrassed. "You've never slept with anyone, have you?" Maloi is right in front of me now. I can see her shoes come in line with mine.
"I... I wouldn't. Not before marriage." Maloi's laugh makes me shrink back further.
"But paano mo malalaman kung magaling sila?" She asks, taking a tiny shuffle forward so her shows are now touching mine. I don't look up in fear of what I might see.
"I don't want to talk about this," I whisper, trying to hide the sadness in my tone.
"You know, I've been with a couple of virgins. Sila yung malalakas umungol." My eyes widen, and I step back, but again, I am stopped by the closed door. Maloi laughs lowly before her finger is on my chin, and she lifts my face to look at her. "I could show you how good it feels." I frown immediately. Maloi showing me? No way! I could never be with a girl.
"No way, Maloi! Mali yan sobrang mali!" Maloi's smirk slips and is replaced with anger.
"What? Dahil babae ako?" When her hand slips down to my neck, wrapping her fingers around the skin, I can only nod in reply. Her face comes millimeters from mine, and I shut my eyes tight, thinking she was about to kiss me and praying to God to forgive me. Then I feel her lips against my ear and open my eyes, looking into her silky hair. "You just wait until I have my way with you." Then Maloi is off me, walking to the other side of the small room and sitting in the small cushioned seat. I gulp, trying to regain my composure as I examine her. "It's time to discuss the terms of your... mission."
"My mission?" I ask, deciding to ignore the past five minutes.
"We helped you, Y/N. Now it's time to help us."
