It was a quick case. The man, upon admitting to the deed, detailed how he got contacted and got paid, and then proceeded to get busted for drug possession. Jungkook won't lie about how utterly satisfying it was for him to tell the man that he was going away for a long time.
Jungkook also wasn't convinced that you're completely out of the woods yet. For as long as Young-il has his beef with the gang, there will always be a threat to your life. As such, arrangements had to be made.
Your shifts remained during the day, and though it was hard for you to reject Jungkook's offer to teach you how to fight - just thinking about him in training clothes and sweating and being rough on you already had your stomach tying in knots - you agreed on enrolling in self-defense classes again with Yeonjun and Hana this time. You also decided to move out of your old apartment to somewhere closer to the cafe.
After panel discussions - with Yeonjun, Jin and Yoongi, and of course Jungkook - you finally found one. It's completely bare and still requires some paint work, maybe built-in shelves and better air conditioning and heating systems, but it's spacious and it fits the budget.
Jungkook insisted that you move in as soon as possible, which is why you're currently in the middle of your living room, surrounded by several large boxes waiting to be unpacked. The rest of your furniture have yet to be moved, so all you have is a fluffy mattress on your bedroom floor.
Jungkook helped with everything and he's made it clear to you that he wants to be a staple in your life, in whatever way you'll have him. You won't deny that you want that, too - more, if you're being honest - but with everything that's happened, the things that were said that night when you kissed were put on hold.
That hasn't stopped you from thinking about them, though, even more now when you think how you couldn't have survived this whole ordeal if it wasn't for him.
You're looking around your empty apartment but somehow think that your life hasn't been this put together in years. With work, your friends, Yeonjun, and Jungkook, there's a sense of acceptance of the incident years ago, there's a content feeling of what you have now, like you've properly mourned what you lost that day - your best friend, yourself - and that you're finally moving on.
The doorbell rings and you run to welcome him. Jungkook greets you with the pizza and shake you've been craving and everything is right again in the world.
"I'm sorry I took a while. The ceremony lasted long because the Chief wouldn't stop talking," he chuckles, then proceeds to remove the dark blue jacket they wear for formal events.
He places it on top of one of the boxes and goes on talking about what happened while he's loosening his tie and rolling up the sleeves of his button-up dress shirt, exposing his forearms. You swear from where you're standing, you can make out the veins and ridges that you always loved to trace.
Between coming to you after work, the dinner he brought, and telling you about his day, everything just feels so domestic, so intimate. So real. And so undeniably right.
You're standing a few feet away from him so it takes a few steps but you get to him right as he turns, realizing you haven't responded to anything he's been saying, and his knees weaken as you grab his face and crash your lips onto his. He recovers quickly and he wraps his arms around your waist for support, as you push him backwards and pin him to the wall.
There's a certain roughness and desperation to your movements. Your kisses are aggressive, hurried; you nip his lip, entangle your tongue with his, then suck his mouth. Lips not removed from his, your hands impatiently unknot his tie then you rip open his shirt and you're glad he's not wearing anything else underneath, as you're able to map the expanse of his broad, firm chest, and scratch on it as you're desperate to feel more of him.
