I Swear I'm Not Lonely

Real people tend to stay away,
me being a little different is all.

I swear I'm not lonely,
All of my friends are just in books.

You can't see them though,
but you can read what they say and do.

Some have magic and others don't,
some are assassins and some are just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I don't really connect to kids my age,
so I like to stay away from them.

It's okay though,
I swear I'm not lonely.

My friends are described through words,
they come from creative minds.

They make me laugh and cry,
feel like punching someone or hugging them.

A lot of people don't like me because I'm smarter then them,
more athletic then them and more creative.

But don't worry,
I swear I'm not lonely.

Even though my real friends can't talk to me,
I know they care about me, based on the things I read that they do.

Some of my friends have dark back grounds that scar them forever,
others are still going through the scarring just like me.

You say that my friends are fine,
but you'd be happier if I made friends in the real world.

I know you do,
but honestly I swear I'm not lonely.

My friends take care of me,
you know they do.

But sometimes I feel empty inside,
don't worry though.

I already told you,
Again and again.

I swear I'm not lonely,
even though I probably am.
