My Only Hope

Getting Me Through The Night

As miles had past from my old home I galloped on the side of a country road surrounded by mountainous terrain and spruce trees from west to east and south to north. I actually felt proud of myself for staying on the horse so long and how it was crazy it could just randomly trust me. I turned around and saw head lights coming my way. I haven't seen anyone on this road since I left the stable, could this person be coming for me? Could I be going to JAIL?? I turned around and started to cry. I regretted everything I had done. I started asking myself questions while balling my eyes out in tears. I couldn't even think i closed my eyes and hugged the horse by the neck trying to sleep and take away all the pain.

As i woke up i looked around and saw mountainous terrain and spruce wood trees. I looked down at the horse which i remembered i have not actually named. I dismounted him and went to cradle his face. I kissed his forehead and patted his neck. I looked at him and i though for a second. "I think i'm going to call you 'Hope' ", i said in a higher pitch voice. Hope and I walked by the river for a while until the sunset. I sat down on the ground as Hope bent his knees and lay down beside me. I started to cry realizing Hope had had no food. All i had was carrots and i already finished a bag. I can kill this horse. I have to get back but i have no idea where that is. Hope looked at me as if saying "We are in this together" i smiled back at him.

The sun was almost completely down and the moon had already been clearly out of the ground. I saw a few mosquitoes on Hope and felt a itch on my back. "Err", "Ahh", i shouted. "Mosquitoes, of course, classic North Canadian bugs." I swatted a few off my back and looked back at Hope. Hope was already asleep with his head on my lamp. I reached out for my blanket and a container of dried meat. i put one on Hope, and another on me. I lye on Hope's neck and we went to sleep.
