"I keep seeing him... I don't like the crows." Eri cried, quietly shaking in the bed but refusing to cover herself up with the blankets.

"It'll go away." Y/N spoke, trying to comfort Eri to sleep by rubbing her back.

"... I'm sorry."

"Don't apologize." Was all Y/N said, her face not giving away any other expression besides tiredness.

The only reason Y/N offered to stay for a while with her was because the poor girl wouldn't stop crying about the new caretaker assigned to her by Chisaki.

Of course, she didn't say that bothered her, but instead, the crows that she kept dreaming about. She always had these recurring dreams of crows, big and small ones that would swoop down and peck at her until she bled. As if they were trying to eat her.

Y/N didn't know much about dreams, only that she didn't seem to have them. Or at least, she didn't remember any of them, it was always dark when she slept until she woke up.

"Is he going to hurt you?" Eri finally whispered again, briefly looking up at Y/N.

"Maybe." She shrugged, still not showing an emotion. "It wouldn't be your fault if he did though."

Eri felt like it was her fault.

She felt like everything was her fault, that man dying earlier, Y/N not being allowed around her anymore, she hated herself for it.

Y/N was trying to tell her not to beat herself up, even placing a gentle hand on the top of her head to reassure her that everything was okay. But it seemed like Eri couldn't stop her pain from overflowing.

Maybe it was Y/N's fault for telling her that she wouldn't be seeing her much again, but she couldn't tell.

Suddenly, the door to the room opened, revealing a lanky man with blond hair that covered his eyes and a goatee.

"Yo, Eri!"

Eri shuttered a little, wanting to look away from the man that just entered her room but somehow couldn't. Her new caretaker, and one that looked rather annoying. Y/N didn't move though, just barely turning her gaze towards him.

Y/N didn't like him, let alone trust him, but she could also tell that he wasn't purposely hostile. It could be worse, Eri could have had someone like Hekiji or Kendo.

They weren't terrible, just a bad match for children.

Painful for Y/N to be around.

"Relax, it's just me." He hesitantly walked in the room. "I'm just checking to make sure you're doing okay in here."

Y/N finally stood up, carefully watching him with a hawk-like glare but backing away. If he was going to be Eri's new caretaker, she needed to let him get better acquainted.

If she didn't do that, he'd probably die and then it would be her fault.

"Aw, what? You haven't touched any of your toys? And after I bought them special for you, it wouldn't hurt to let your guard down a little y'know?" He continued, trying to ignore Y/N as best as he could while he stood next to Eri's bed.

Y/N knew better, he didn't care about her at all.

He was afraid of what would happen if he couldn't get what Chisaki wanted. Like he should be, his fear towards Chisaki at least meant he wouldn't harm Eri, mentally, physically, or in some perverse way.

"See? I'm not scary." The man coos, patting the top of her head to try and calm her down. Instead though, she flinches before scooting closer to Y/N's general area.

"Is there anything you want me to bring you?"

Eri hesitantly shakes her head in a quiet manner, making the man sigh again before he just turns around to head towards the door.
