"i, i loved you in secret"

chapter nine .. dancing with our hands tied

...

"i can't believe you're going on a date with him" belly said

kaia sat at her vanity, it was 10:30, colton was picking her up in half an hour, she was finishing up her makeup, her hair was already in loose curls and she was wearing a mini denim skirt and a baby grey tee

"c'mon bells, he's trying" she said, putting on gold hoop earrings

belly shrugged, her expression was concerned "as your friend, im begging you not to go" she sighed, "i heard enough last night to know hes not as good as you say"

kaia shrugged, "he's a good person belly! he's working on his drinking problems"

colton's drinking problems had really bothered kaia, she was worried he would be drunk when he showed up or not at all, she tried to push those thoughts aside, he was making an effort to improve, that meant something to her

"if you say so" belly replied

kaia opened the door, colton stood there, he was wearing a tan tshirt with grey shorts, his hair looked messy but also put together

"hey" he smiled, "you look great"

kaia returned the smile, "thank you, so do you"

"shall we?" he said, offering her his hand

she took it, "we shall"

colton drove them down to the beach, it was a short drive. they walked hand in hand down to their spot where colton had already placed a blanket on the sand, there were two sandwiches already placed down there alongside a bag of chips and more roses

kaia smiled, "wow, this is.. amazing colton"

they sat down on the blanket, colton handed her a sandwich "im glad you like it"

they ate their food in silence for a while, kaia hadn't really known what to say, it was a bit awkward, colton cleared his throat "im still sorry for last night-"

kaia cut him off, "it's okay, really"

colton shook his head, "no seriously, that was really uncool of me, one for not showing up at the volleyball tournament and then coming to your house wasted"
