"I CAN'T BELIEVE you're actually going on a date with him," belly said, legs crossed as she sat in kaia's bed
kaia sat at her vanity, it was 10:30, colton was picking her up in half an hour. she was finishing up her makeup, her hair was already in loose curls and she was wearing a mini denim skirt and a baby grey tee
"c'mon bells," she said, putting on gold hoop earrings "he's trying"
belly shrugged, her expression was concerned "as your friend, im begging you not to go" she sighed, "i heard enough last night to know he's not as good as you keep telling yourself he is. you know i only want the best for you"
kaia frowned, but kept her eyes on the mirror. "he's a good person, belly. he just.. has things he needs to work on" she said, as if trying to convince herself
colton's drinking problems had really bothered kaia, just the pure unpredictability. she worried that he'd show up drunk, or worse, not show up at all. she tried to push those thoughts aside, he was making an effort to improve, that meant something to her
belly studied her friend for a moment, concern on her face. "if you say so" belly replied

KAIA OPENED THE door, colton stood there. he was wearing a tan t-shirt with grey shorts. his hair looked messy but also put together
"hey" he smiled, "you look great"
kaia returned the smile, "thank you, so do you"
"shall we?" he asked, offering her his hand
she took it, "we shall"
colton drove them down to the beach, it was a short drive. they walked hand in hand down to their spot where colton had already placed a blanket on the sand. there were two sandwiches already placed down there alongside a bag of chips and more roses
kaia smiled, "wow, this is.. really thoughtful, colton"
he smiled as they sat down, colton handed her a sandwich. "im glad you like it"
they ate mostly in silence. kaia wasn't sure what to say, it felt a little awkward. colton cleared his throat "im still sorry for last night-"
kaia cut him off, "it's okay, really"
colton shook his head, "no, seriously. it was messed up. not showing up to the tournament, then showing up drunk at your door? i shouldn't have spoken to you, or steven that way"
