Beep.

Beep.

Beep.

Beep.

A steady beeping sounded repeatedly somewhere to my right. I made a small noise of frustration as I tried to lift my right arm and a dull throb of pain made me pause and blearily open my eyes. I blinked tiredly and gazed at the heavy weight on my left arm, smiling softly when I realized Nathan was practically sleeping on it.

I gently freed my hand and began running my fingers through his hair, smiling when he slowly blinked open his eyes and then shot up. "Ivy! You're awake finally! How do you feel? Do you need more medicine?" his words were rushed and I rubbed my eyes with a yawn before glancing around.

The all white surroundings and sterile smell quickly brought me to full consciousness and I grimaced as I examined the strange brace on my arm. "Well this will really cramp my style." I joked in a raspy tone and Nathan gave a slight smile before hurrying to get me a cup of water.

Only moments later the door burst open and a teary Jade was at my side, clinging to my uninjured arm as she cried. "Ivy! I'm so glad your okay!" she sniffled and I smiled as I gave her a one arm hug. "I'm fine, no need to cry or worry about me sis."

"What happened? Do you remember?" she sniffled and I shuddered as the memories rushed through me. "She fell on some really bad rocks, gashed her arm all up and broke it." Maverick interjected suddenly with a serious tone and I looked up at him in confusion. "But I-" I started and was cut off by the door opening again.

"Good morning Ivy, my name is Dr. Quinn. I've been the one taking care of you after your accident." The doctor spoke with a kind smile and I slightly returned it as I eyed Hunter and Jade stepping to the side in a whispered conversation. "Thank you Dr. Quinn. Is it possible for me to go home soon?" I asked as I looked at her but glanced back to where Nathaniel had now joined their whispered argument.

"Not just yet I'm afraid. I kept you sedated overnight to be sure your body recovered from all of the blood loss it endured so I want to observe you again at least for today. We can discuss more options tomorrow morning if your tests look good." she smiled and I sighed but nodded. "Thank you."

"Of course. I'm going to check your injured arm to be sure the stitches are still doing well and then I will give you some more medicine for the pain." she said as she stepped closer and I nodded. I winced but gritted my teeth silently as she gently lifted my tender arm and carefully examined it.

"Does your shoulder hurt as well?" she asked and I nodded, wincing as she carefully felt around it. "I'm not feeling anything torn or out place so it was probably just a bit strained and is sore. These will definitely help to alleviate the pain and any swelling that may be causing extra discomfort."

She placed a small cup with two large white pills in front of me with a small bottle of orange juice and I eagerly took them and drained the drink. "Perfect. Those should start to kick in within the next thirty minutes." she smiled and I returned it. "Thank you Dr. Quinn."

"Its my pleasure. Please let us know if you need anything else." she said as she bowed her head and then left the room. Jade immediately pulled away from Hunter and Nathaniel and shot them a look with narrowed eyes as she came to my side before she immediately changed it to a smile. "I'm really glad you're okay." she said and I nodded. "So am I. Is Aiden okay? Have you gone to see him and everyone?"

"I plan to go in a couple hours to pick him up and bring him here. He really wants to see you but your mom doesn't want to overwhelm you so they're staying home and Aiden will stay with either Bryan and Karen or me and Hunter afterwards." she said and I gave a slight smile. "Thank you, you're the best." I said and she winked. "I know," she grinned as she stood and headed for the door. "Be back soon!"

Hunter quickly followed her and closed the door and after a few moments of silence I looked at Nathaniel closely. "Do you need anything? How's your arm?" he asked as he rubbed the back of his neck nervously and I raised a brow. "You mean the arm that was used as a chew toy for a wolf?" I asked sharply and his hands balled into fists as he turned away.

"There are no wolves native to these forests." he said lowly and I sighed. "Maybe it was a werewolf and I'll get some cool superpowers then." I said and he practically choked as he whirled to stare at me in disbelief. "W-What?" he stuttered and I tilted my head curiously.

"What? Haven't you ever read any good books about werewolves? You get bit and then you turn into one." I said in a fake spooky tone with a small smile and he gave a small laugh as he rubbed a hand over his face. "No I'm not much of a reader to be honest." he murmured and I fake gasped. "You don't like to read? How do you ever relax?" I said in mock horror and he grinned.

"I work out, obviously." he said with a wink as he flexed, his large muscles bulging through his fitted white tee. My heart audibly sped up on the monitor and I blushed as he smirked. "See something you like?" he teased and I stuck my tongue out childishly. "Mind your own business."

"You're my girlfriend, you are my business." he grinned and I smiled then looked at him seriously again. "So why are you lying to me and telling everyone a different story then? I know what happened, I remember most of it. Some feral looking wolf attacked me and then I was saved by five other ones. I had even seen two of them in the same place a couple months before."

Nathaniel just looked away from me, rubbing the back of his neck again before he headed for the door. "I'm going to go get a quick shower and change clothes, you should get some rest before Jade brings Aiden up here. I'll bring you some food when I get back too." he said and I narrowed my eyes. "You can't just run away while we are talking about this Nathan, we need-"

The gentle click of the door closing cut off my sentence and I felt a mixture of disbelief, anger and sadness as tears rushed to my eyes. I wiped them away angrily with my left hand and sighed as I looked down at my right, making a frustrated promise to the empty air.

"I know what happened to me. I don't know why you're lying to me Nathaniel Kingsley, but I swear I will find out."
