"How do you think your first day went, Champ?" Trevor smirked as he began washing some of the dishes.
Today was crazy and very eventful. I can't believe this coffee shop stays open as late as it does. It's 10:38 at night and we just closed eight minutes ago. Ugh who needs coffee at such a late hour? No one. That's why people just ordered snacks and water. It's more like a hang out spot than a coffee shop. Why do they even call it a coffee shop?
Trevor cleared his throat and gave me that look like 'you gonna answer me or not' kind of thing.
"It was eventful, but I liked it." I smiled as I walked over to help do the dishes.
"I don't need help doing these. do me a favor though?" Trevor asked while rinsing off a little saucer. I raised an eyebrow questioning him.
"Make us both some coffee. I like mine black."
I nodded and mad my way to the coffee machine.
...
Trevor and I sat and had a nice conversation about how many teens come in here and don't order coffee, we shared a few laughs and he asked some questions about me and I asked some about him. As I was taking a drink of my coffee Trevor began to speak again.
"So, Mia. You're 17, senior this coming school year, and your favorite color is blue?" He grinned showing his teeth.
I swallowed my coffee and nodded. "Yes and you are Trevor that is 23, favorite color black, and you own a coffee shop?" I gestured to the surrounding area with a hand wave.
"I don't own it, it's my moms. You can say I own it though, I do everything..." He paused as he looked down. "I like it though, it makes me happy."
We continued our conversation about the shop and his mom, he informed me that his dad left him and his mom when he was very young but he wasn't angry. Only hurt and I could see it in his eyes when he look at me after telling me that.
"So what about your parents?" He smirked then brought the coffee cup to his lip, kissing the rim. I watched his Adam's apple go up and down and he gulped his remaining coffee.
"Uhh..." I looked towards the clock on the wall 11:03pm. "That's enough chatter for tonight, it's getting late. I'll wash these cups and then I have to head home." I flashed a fake smile and grabbed his cup followed by mine, and walked to the kitchen.
"Set them there I've got them, newbie. Go home and get some sleep. I'll see you tomorrow." Trevor waved me off.
I frowned as I grabbed my items and began to walk out the door. "Goodnight Trevor." I called to him.
"Goodnight Mia." He replied as I closed the door to the café.
...
I sighed in relief as I sat on the couch. Thinking of today made me realize I haven't ate anything but toast. I was starving! But when am I not? I made my way to the kitchen to heat up some left overs but decided I was to tired for that much work. So I grabbed a bag of Cheetos and made my way to my room to get some well needed sleep.
