*Ding, Ding, Ding.*My car sounded, alerting me that I need to get gas. I was on my way to grab Trevor and I some lunch but if I didn't stop for gas I would be walking.
I pulled into the first gas station I seen and got out to walk inside.
"$50 on pump....um..." I looked back to double check.
"Pump three?" The guy behind the counter questioned.
"Yes, pump three." I smiled and handed him the cash, Blake?
"Hey Mia, busy today?" Blake smiled as he put the cash in the register.
"Uh... Yeah actually, I was just going to get my boss and I some lunch." I closed my wallet and placed it back in my purse.
"How unfortunate. Let's go to dinner this weekend. Dress nice." Blake smiled wide while giving me a wink.
I returned a smile and nodded. "Sounds good to me. Saturday?"
Blake nodded and with that I waved bye and went to pump my gas.
...
"Those subs were awesome!" Trevor grabbed his cup and sucked up the rest of his Sprite.
I nodded wiping the table down and picked up the trash remaining from the messy eater.
"It was nice." I began to turn around but as soon as I did I tripped over the chair leg. When I collided with the floor I heard a loud crash and began to feel a sharp pain in my stomach.
...
"Fuck." I groaned as Trevor pushed the cotton against my stomach.
"You should be fine. I think I got all the glass out." Trevor examined my wound and raised an eyebrow.
"No." I shook my head. Trevor has been trying to get me to go to the hospital for the past thirty minutes but I'm fine just a minor wound from the broken coffee cup.
Trevor stood and pushed through the items in the first-aid kit. "I'm going to put some butterfly bandages on it... They sorta act like stitches." Trevor pulled them out and began to place them on me.
...
"You don't have to stay at work... You should go home." Trevor had been bothering me for the past hour and a half about 'You should go home' 'Are you okay' 'Let me take you to the doctor'. Ugh I'm fine. Just a little sore."I'm fine. Now shut up before I-I" I paused trying to think of a good threat but he beat me to it.
"Before you fall and bust your ass again?" He chuckled lightly and I gave him a soft shove.
"If I would have fell on my ass this wouldn't have happened." I laughed and pointed toward my stomach.
"If you could walk like a normal person none of it would have happened. Butttttt noooooo. Now I have to spend and extra thirty minutes filling out an accident report." Trevor smirked and walk toward the counter and pulled out a black binder.
"You don't have too. I'm fine. Actually please don't fill one out. It's just a small cut." I whined as I retied my apron, losing it so it wasn't so tight on my cut.
"Um, Hi." A man with sandy hair questioned.
I guess neither of us heard the bell tithe door ring when he walked in. "Hello sir, I'm so sorry about the wait. How may I help you?" I smiled brightly ignoring the man sour look.
"Coffee. Black. Please." He spoke flatly and he seemed kind of rude.
I held up the cups for the size that he wanted and he pointed toward large. As I turned to heat the water I heard him speak again.
"Is the owner of this place here today?" His looked around the shop and then back to me.
Trevor had went to the back to do some paper work and I didn't know how to respond. Was he going to tell on me?? Oh god. Do I lie? Uuhhhh....
"The owner is not in today, but the co-owner is. Would you like to speak with him?" I raised an eyebrow toward the man. I wonder what he what's with them.
"Please." He said flatly.
I poured his coffee into a cup and placed it on the counter.
"$2.16 please, I'll go grab him as soon as I'm done here." I opened the register and gave the man his change for the five he had given me.
When walking toward the back room to get Trevor I could help feel that something wasn't right with this strange man. Tax collector? Bounty hunter? Oh my goodness. He was looking for them to take away the coffee shop?!?
"Trevor!" I called as soon as I entered the room, looking left and then right I spotted him sitting at the table with a pair of head phones in while filling out some papers.
I tapped on his shoulder and then pulled a ear bud out. "Creepy guy wants to speak with you." I pointed toward the café and gave him the 'hurry or I'm going to hurt you look'. Trevor got up and walked toward the man.
"Yes? How may I help you?" He spoke softly and with a small smile. Yes I was listening to their conversation. My name might as well be nosey Nancy.
"Well since your mother isn't here I guess I'll speak with you." His voice was harsh and rude.
"Dad?" Trevor's face turned red with anger but the fear and sadness in his eyes were very prominent.
