•Trevor's POV•Here I am sitting in front of my sperm donor. I thought I would never see him again, but here David is across the table from me in his fancy suite and tie starring at me like I've got three heads.
"Are you just going to sit here and look uncomfortable, or will you answer my question?" David's voice was dark and his tone came out rudely.
"She left. On vacation. Why?" I spoke flat trying not to let my anger show even though I was the hulk inside.
I turned my head to look at Mia, she was taking an order but she looked at me and gave me the "are you okay" smile. I nodded and looked back toward David who shifted and stood.
"I need her number. Now, I wouldn't of come here if it wasn't important."
I couldn't do it anymore, sit here and pretend him being here doesn't bother me. "Leave." I tried to keep my voice low, to stay calm. I stood from the table and pushed my chair in. While I made my way to the back room I turned to make sure he was leaving, but he was talking to Mia.
...
"Don't you dare tell me how to live my life!" I hissed toward Mia. She had decided to try and get me to call my father tomorrow and talk it out.
"Trevor..." She spoke softly but stopped to check her ringing phone. "I need to take this." I watched her walk outside the shop and pace in front.
I heard a few words that she spoke to loudly such as "ashes" and "funeral" or something like that. Time passed by slowly and what was 15 minutes felt like an hour of her on the phone.
"Is it okay if I leave now?" Mia kept her voice flat and a tear rolled down her cheek.
"Erm..." I paused not knowing if I should let her drive home and cry or comfort her. "Not yet... Do you want to close shop early tonight? Go to dinner with me? We can talk about some stuff and my dad and shit." My sentence got quite as I spoke.
I expected a no from Mia but she shook her head yes and within 5 minutes the 'closed' sign was flipped and the lights were off to the shop.
