Dinner at the Jaeger's was strange, but at the same time it wasn't. You were not used to the typical situation of 'dinner with the family', but hey, you were able to meet his father.
"I work as a surgeon." He told you. It immediately intrigued you, more interested in the field in which he worked, how he managed annoying patients, and whether surgeons could keep the things they found in patients bodies. Strange questions but it was crazy the way he talked about the many things he had found in these stomachs.
"Did you find a diamond ring in someone's stomach?!" You say in shock as your eyes widened because of what came out of Grisha's mouth.
Grisha started laughing while telling you the whole story. "The police demanded an x-ray of the man's stomach after he stole from a jewelry store, and that's it. After the withdrawal, the jeweler no longer wanted to hear about it and I was able to keep it. The next day, I showed it to the residents I was teaching." He told you the whole story what you liked.
"It's so crazy. You must love your work." You say while taking a sip of your water.
Grisha sighed and smiled.
"It has its disadvantages, but overall, the advantages outweigh them. That's how I met Eren's mother." He looked at his wife. You found it cute, but Eren had a step back when he saw his parents looking at each other lovingly.
You liked talking with them. Amazingly, they also appreciated your company. Sometimes, when you thought you were crossing the boundaries, they found it hilarious and laughed when you talked about your experience and some stories you had with Eren.
"You must be both good friends" says Carla looking at you and turning to her son.
"I guess we can say that. I appreciate his company. We never get bored with him." You looked at Eren and smiled at him as if you couldn't help but do it by talking to everyone. You smiled so much that your cheeks started to hurt.
"I wish I could say the same." he teased you while looking at his mother.
"He is lying. He loves me."
After dinner, you helped do the dishes. You were always nervous in the presence of the parents without Eren by your side, But you wanted to be a nice guest and help in the house.
"So, how long have you and Eren been friends?" Asked Carla, rubbing the dishes while you rinsed them.
"About four months now." You tell him, by placing a plate in the dishwasher.
"Four months? I have the impression that you have been friends for much longer." She said, in disbelief, passing you another dish. You slightly seared your eyebrows.
"Why do you say that?" You asked.
Carla looked at you slightly and smiled. "I don't know... I thought you were going out together at first."
You choked with your saliva.
"No, that's not the case. We're just friends." You tell her. She only hummed for a brief moment before turning her head completely towards you. "Are you sure? It looks like he's changed since he met you. He barely spoke at dinner, but today he was more sociable. Especially the crisis he had before going to university." Carla said the last part in a distracted way.
"The crisis?" You say in a slightly confused tone as you both finish the dishes.
"He didn't tell you? He thought of going to the army."
"The army?" Your voice rise slightly because of your surprise.
"So he didn't tell you about it? I suppose that after that day, he completely dismissed this idea." Carla put her hands on her hips.
