Today was like any other day, the warm savanna sun shining on me as I laid on a rock. I sigh and lay my head down before I hear someone call my name, I look around to see Firefly waving me over to come here, I groan dramatically and get up walking over to her.
“Need something?” I asked her as I plopped down on my back next to her.
“No, just thought you'd need some company sitting over there alone” She said with a smile and looked down at me.
“Oh I was perfectly fine on my own!” I say sarcastically and laugh slightly smiling back at her.
“Totally were when you looked bored out of your mind” She teased and looked away from me and up at the sky “The sun is pretty bright today don't you think?” She added.
“Yeah, it's pretty bright” I say nodding in agreement and sit up off my back so I'm now sitting next to her “Feel back for the ones with a dark coat” I say chuckling.
“Yeah, if only those Badlanders had sun, they'd be gone from a heat stroke” She said jokingly and laughed.
“Yeah they would, almost all of them have a dark coat” I say and laugh along with her “We can only hope” I say sarcastically.
“Wow that's very nice of you to say” She said and continued to laugh. We always had laughing fits together.
“Can you blame me? They're awful!” I say and chuckle, only for it to lead into a full laugh to the point where I can't breath.
“I don't think anyone can blame you, they are awful” She said and calmed down from laughing finally “Geez calm down your gonna suffocate!” She said realizing how I was laughing a little too hard and soon enough I calmed down from my laughing fit.
“Haven't laughed like that in a while” I say, chuckling once again.
“Yeah tell me about it” She said and smiled.
We sat there for a moment until we heard yelling and screaming coming from one of the lions. We both look over and see our Mane looking frantic and like he saw a ghost.
“Where is she, someone find her!” Salvestor would scream as he looked around his eyes wide with fear.
I run up to him and Firefly is soon to follow close behind me.
“Find who!?” I say a hint of panic in my voice as I stop and stand in front of him.
“My daughter, she was just here playing!” He said his mouth still hung open as he was still frantic.
“She couldn’t have gone far, she’s only a cub” I say and start to turn my head looking around.
“I hope not, she’s quick on her feet but still..” He said and started to trot off in some other direction from me and Firefly.
“Fire, you go that way, I go this way” I say to Firefly and she runs off in the direction I told her to go.
I start to run in the direction I said I would and start to holler the cub’s name “CLEMENTINE!”
I kept hollering the cub's name running along the savanna until I found a familiar scent… Clementine…
I quickly started to follow the scent, “Seems like she went to Harmony Jungle, hmm..” I say to myself and look up at the jungle in front of me and go down to the water where her scent suddenly stopped
“Her scent washed off, damnit..” I say to myself and start to look around for any sign of the cub but find nothing. I smell something weird though, the smell of something strong and like the smell of dirt… Badlanders… I start to run back to Sunsetters where the mane and start to look for him
“Salvestor!” I yell and soon see him emerge from the cave
“Otis? Did you find her, please tell me you did…” He said with hope in his eyes
“I'm sorry, but I found her scent, and someone else's..” I say and look down to the ground not wanting to see his reaction before I continued to speak “A Badlanders scent, they must have gotten her.."
“You must be joking.. Right..?” Salvestor said his voice dropping into a quieter tone as he spoke
“I'm sorry, but I'm not joking…” I say and finally look up seeing his face now full of worry and his eyes start to water
“ Otis.. You're serious…?” He said as tears started to stream down his face staining his fur with the liquid
“Yes, I’m serious, Salvestor..” I say with a nod and walk up to him nuzzling my forehead against his to try and comfort him “We’ll find her, I promise..”
“I hope we do..” He said tears dripping onto the ground making the dirt wet
“We’ll try and find her tomorrow, we need to have a plan if we’re gonna go sneak into badlands to find her” I say and back away a bit giving him his space
“Yeah, we’ll go tomorrow” He said nodding “I’ll start a meeting and tell the rest of the pride” He added and trotted off to a rock sitting on it and yelled “Pride meeting!”
I walk over in front of the rock and I see Firefly sit next to me, giving her a small nod of acknowledgement and look back at Salvestor as he started to speak once everyone was there
“As you may know, Clementine is missing” He started “But I have gotten some news that Otis has found her scent and some Badlanders scent” He said and paused thinking of what else to say
“We will go tomorrow and sneak into Badlands territory first going into the Deadlands then sneaking down the path into the Badlands. I will have some of you be lookout for any of the Badlanders in case they are around. Firefly, and Shelly, you will be lookout. Otis and Caramel, you will go into Badlands with me to find Clementine" He said looking at the lions he said the names of
“With that, pride meeting dismissed”
