Solace

Two days make me question
everything I know a fact
then I see your face,
the way you smile
upon seeing mine

and the wholesome way
you expectantly open your arms
for an embrace, a reconnection
that makes the doubts fade,
the insecurities shrink.

You say I'm this and that
but in front of your words
I'm ice on a stove:

you plague my mind
and I never wish to be cured,
you are what saves me.

Let me be painfully in love
for only pain could feel this deep
even being the greatest blessing
my soul was ever pleased with.

I plead for this spell
never to be broken,
the dream to never end.

I sleep between clouds:
a summer hammock of peace,
a shelter in the winds of change;
my passion's eternal belief,
my heart's relief.
