Tate and Y/N sat side by side on the couch in their shared apartment, their phones resting on the coffee table in front of them. They had been together for five months, keeping their relationship private from the world. But now, they both felt it was time to share their love with the public, to stop hiding and embrace their relationship openly.
Tate looked over at Y/N, who was nervously twirling a strand of hair between her fingers. "Are you sure you're ready for this?" Tate asked gently, her hand resting on Y/N's knee. "We don't have to do it today if you're not comfortable."
Y/N took a deep breath, giving Tate a small smile. "I'm ready. I want people to know, but...I'm just a little nervous, I guess. I've seen how brutal social media can be, and I don't want anything to change between us because of it."
Tate squeezed her knee reassuringly. "Nothing's going to change between us. We'll do this together, okay? And if things get tough, we'll face it together."
Y/N nodded, feeling a bit more at ease with Tate's words. "Okay. So, what pictures should we post?"
Tate grabbed her phone, scrolling through the album of photos they had taken over the past five months. "How about this one?" She showed Y/N a picture of the two of them at the beach, smiling brightly at the camera. Tate had her arm around Y/N's waist, pulling her close as they both squinted slightly in the sun. The joy in their expressions was palpable.
Y/N smiled at the memory. "I love that one. It's perfect."
Tate nodded in agreement. "And maybe this one too?" She swiped to another photo, this time of them cuddled up on the couch, Y/N's head resting on Tate's shoulder as they both looked at the camera with soft, content smiles.
Y/N's heart fluttered at the sight of the photo. It perfectly captured the intimacy of their relationship. "Yeah, that one's really sweet. I think we should both post that one."
Tate grinned. "Great. Now, what about the captions?"
Y/N bit her lip, thinking for a moment. "I want it to be simple, but meaningful. Maybe something like...'My favorite person.'"
Tate's smile widened. "I love that. It's perfect for you. I was thinking of saying something like, 'The best thing that's ever happened to me.'"
Y/N felt her cheeks heat up, and she couldn't help but lean in to kiss Tate softly. "That's beautiful, Tate. I think they'll be perfect."
With their captions decided, they both sat in silence for a moment, fingers hovering over the "Share" button on Instagram. They exchanged a glance, and with a deep breath, they pressed the button at the same time, posting their pictures and captions for the world to see.
As soon as the posts went live, their phones started buzzing with notifications—likes, comments, messages. The response was immediate, and mostly positive, with fans expressing their love and support for the couple.
Later that night, Tate had a concert, and as always, she did a soundcheck with fans in attendance. Y/N accompanied her, as she often did, staying backstage while Tate engaged with the crowd.
As the soundcheck kicked off, the fans were buzzing with excitement, eager to ask Tate questions. It didn't take long for the conversation to shift toward the person everyone was curious about—Y/N.
"Tate! We saw your post with Y/N! Are you guys officially together?" one fan called out, her voice full of anticipation.
Tate's lips curled into a wide, genuine smile as she stood confidently on stage, the microphone in hand. The question was one she had been expecting, and she was more than ready to answer. "Yes, we are," she said, her voice carrying warmth and pride. "We've been together for a little while now, and we decided it was time to share it with you all."
