Y/N and Tate had been dreaming of starting a family together for a long time. After countless conversations, they decided that Y/N would carry their child, and they embarked on the journey of in vitro fertilization (IVF). It was a decision they didn't take lightly, knowing it would be an emotional, physical, and financial commitment. But they were determined, and the hope of holding their baby in their arms kept them going.
The process began with consultations at a fertility clinic, where they discussed their options, the procedures, and the potential challenges ahead. Y/N underwent a series of tests to ensure her body was ready, and Tate was by her side through it all, offering support and encouragement.
The next step was the hormonal treatments. Y/N had to administer daily injections to stimulate her ovaries, encouraging them to produce multiple eggs. It was a difficult time, with Y/N experiencing mood swings, fatigue, and discomfort from the medication. But Tate was there every step of the way, helping Y/N with the injections, comforting her during the rough days, and reminding her of the beautiful goal they were working toward.
Once Y/N's eggs were ready, she underwent an egg retrieval procedure. The eggs were then fertilized with donor sperm, and the embryos were carefully monitored over the next few days to see which ones developed healthily. Finally, the day of the embryo transfer arrived, and one of the healthy embryos was placed into Y/N's uterus, where they all hoped it would implant and grow into a healthy baby.
The two-week wait after the transfer was agonizing. Y/N and Tate tried to stay positive, but the uncertainty weighed heavily on them. They kept busy, leaning on each other for support, but there was always that nervous anticipation in the back of their minds.
Then, the day finally came for Y/N to take a pregnancy test. She decided to do it alone while Tate was at the studio. Her hands were shaking as she waited for the results, heart pounding in her chest. When the test showed those two faint lines, indicating a positive result, Y/N could hardly believe it. She stared at the test in disbelief, her eyes filling with tears. After everything they had gone through, their dream was finally coming true.
Y/N sat on the bathroom floor, clutching the test, overwhelmed with emotion. She was pregnant. She couldn't wait to tell Tate, but at that moment, she needed to process the news herself. It was a mixture of joy, relief, and a little bit of fear—fear of the unknown, of the journey ahead, but also immense love for the tiny life growing inside her.
When she finally gathered herself, Y/N knew she wanted to surprise Tate with the news in a special way. She placed the test in a small box, wrapping it up with tissue paper, and waited for Tate to come home from the studio.
And when Tate opened the box and saw the pregnancy test, the look of pure joy and disbelief on her face was something Y/N would never forget. They were going to be moms, and this was just the beginning of their beautiful journey together.
Finally, she heard the familiar sound of keys jangling in the lock, and the door creaked open. Tate was home. Y/N practically flew to the door, her smile wide and her heart racing.
Tate stepped inside, her tired eyes lighting up as soon as she saw Y/N's beaming face. "Hey, babe," Tate greeted her, a little taken aback by Y/N's excitement. "You seem...extra happy today. What's going on?"
Y/N grinned, barely able to contain herself. "I got you something!" she said, grabbing Tate's hand and pulling her toward the living room.
Tate laughed, letting herself be dragged along. "Okay, okay, what is it?"
Y/N's heart pounded as she picked up the small box from the table and handed it to Tate, her hands trembling slightly with anticipation. "Open it," she urged, her voice a little shaky with excitement.
Tate raised an eyebrow, curious but still a bit confused, and carefully lifted the lid of the box. Inside, nestled among some soft tissue paper, was the pregnancy test. Tate's eyes widened as she saw the two unmistakable lines.
She looked up at Y/N, tears already welling in her eyes. "Is this—? Are you...?" Tate's voice was thick with emotion, her hands shaking as she held the test.
Y/N nodded, tears of joy streaming down her own cheeks. "I'm pregnant, Tate. We're going to have a baby."
The words were barely out of her mouth before Tate let out a choked sob of happiness. She pulled Y/N into a tight hug, burying her face in Y/N's neck as she cried tears of pure joy. "Oh my god, Y/N," Tate whispered, her voice trembling. "We're going to be moms."
Y/N hugged her back just as tightly, both of them clinging to each other as the reality of the moment sank in. They had been dreaming of this for so long, and now, it was finally happening.
Tate pulled back just enough to look at Y/N, her face still wet with tears but glowing with happiness. "I love you so much," she said, her voice filled with emotion. "I can't believe this is real."
"It's real," Y/N whispered, her hands cupping Tate's face. "We're going to be a family."
Tate kissed her then, a deep, passionate kiss filled with all the love and happiness she felt in that moment. When they finally pulled apart, they rested their foreheads together, both of them smiling through their tears.
"I can't wait to meet our little one," Tate said softly, her hand resting gently on Y/N's still-flat stomach.
"Me neither," Y/N replied, her heart swelling with love for the woman in front of her and the life they were about to bring into the world.
They stayed like that for a while, wrapped up in each other, the excitement and joy of the moment enveloping them. It was a moment they would remember forever—the beginning of their journey as parents, as a family. And in that moment, nothing else mattered.
