(Mingyu's POV)
"AHHH, I thought after getting to work with you, I might get to do actually cool stuff, but here we are bringing school supplies to the Director's Husband," Wonwoo complained with a muffled voice, trying to balance all the supplies in his hands.
"Wonwoo, you need to learn a lot. I know this isn't part of our job, but it will surely put us in the director's good graces," I replied, taking some of the supplies from Wonwoo, which were about to fall from his grip at any moment.
"But why do we need to be on his good list?" Wonwoo asked curiously.
"Trust me, it helps a lot," I recalled all the moments I almost got fired, but Director Cheol intervened and defended my actions. Wonwoo made a surprised O face.
"And, plus, Mr. Yoon is one of the best people you'll ever meet. They are fun to hang out with as well," I honestly said.
We finally reached the school location, and upon entering the building, the school guard wasn't there. This was odd, as there are always two guards, and you need an ID to enter the school or the guard's permission. Still, I decided to call Mr. Yoon. Wonwoo placed all the supplies on the ground because his arms were about to give up.
The phone rang twice, and Mr. Yoon answered it. "Hey, Mingyu, have you reached the school?" Mr. Yoon replied with his usual cheery voice.
"Yes, Mr. Yoon, but the school guard ain't here, and I can see no one at the reception table," I said while looking at the table.
"Don't worry; it's lunchtime for the staff. They'll be here anytime. Anyway, you can use the school pass that I gave, and—"
BANG.
I heard a loud gunshot from both the phone and outside the school. I looked at Wonwoo to make sure I wasn't hallucinating, and his expression confirmed my fear.
"Mr. YOON, ARE YOU THERE? MR. YOON, REPLY!" I shouted into the phone. Suddenly, I heard a loud bell, probably for a school lockdown.
"MR. YOON, ARE YOU ALRIGHT?" I repeated, my heart pounding like crazy.
"Min... Mingyu, Ye. Yes, I'm he... he... here," Mr. Yoon said in a trembling voice.
"Mr. Yoon, where are you?" I asked calmly and signed Wonwoo to use the school ID. We entered the building. I could hear Mr. Yoon breathing heavily, trying to calm himself. "I'm in the classroom, second floor in 8th D," Mr. Yoon replied calmly this time.
"Mr. Yoon, I want you to close the door and windows, turn off the lights, and ask the students to hide under the desk," I said while entering the school hallway and noticing a pin-drop silence. I ordered Wonwoo to check both sides to see if the area was clear or not. Wonwoo looked at me and nodded. I understood, and we quickly ran towards the hall, slowly climbing the stairs while Wonwoo covered my back. I knew our team would be here soon; I just hoped there weren't many people we had to face.
We entered the second floor, and I asked Wonwoo to stay there and cover me from the back while I entered the class. Wonwoo was hesitant at first but agreed. I went stealthily and stood in front of the classroom. I made sure it was 8th D. "Mr. Yoon, it's me, Mingyu. You can open the door," I said quietly but loud enough to be heard by Mr. Yoon. After a moment, I heard the door handle unlocking. I was still aiming my gun, not knowing what to expect, but luckily, it was Mr. Yoon. I entered the classroom and saw all the kids still hiding inside their desks.
"Kids, you can come out. Agent Mingyu has come to save the day," Mr. Yoon said in a cheery voice to gain the trust of the kids who quickly came out of the desk, giggling. Mr. Yoon asked them to be quiet, and they quickly got silent.
