"Happy birthday!" I whisper shouted, jumping onto Isaac.

He groaned and pushed me off the bed.

"Um, excuse you!" I pouted.

"Is dad gone?" He asked, sitting up. I nodded.

"Well, it means we can be as loud as we want opening my presents!" He said, jumping up and pushing me out of the way as he sprinted downstairs.

I got up smiling.

"My presents for you." I said, handing him a bag.

He opened it and chucked the sweets in the air, chuckling.

"My favourites, thanks." He said.

"No hugs!" I commanded, pushing him away. I was not one for physical touch.

"So grouchy!" He laughed.

"Um, this is - was mums present for you." I said quietly.

His smile faded as he took the package.

He carefully opened it and half smiled when he saw what it was.

"She sure knew me." He whispered, wrapping it back up.

"Thanks Y/n this means a lot." He said.

I nodded and cleaned up the mess.

Just as I was putting everything in the bin, the door opened and slammed, indicating that Dad was back from his nightly drink.

"We are moving pack your bags we leave in four hours max!" He shouted. My jaw dropped.

"Dad, what?!" I heard Isaac say.

"No questions pack now. NOW!" He yelled at the end, making me jump, dropping a glass.

Oh no. My dad stormed in, and his eyes scanned over the shattered glass.

"You idiot! I have to clean that up, meaning I will have less time to pack because of spoilt people like you! Why couldn't you just have never been born. Abortion!" He screamed.

I covered my ears, trying to drown out his voice.

"Listen to me when I speak to you, child!" He shouted, grabbing a plate and throwing it at me. I screamed as it shattered over my face.

I ran out of the room and up into my room, shutting the door behind me.

"Y/n, are you okay?" Isaac whispered from behind the door.

"Yeah, yeah, I'm fine. All good." I said my voice strained.

I went over to my bed and got my phone, putting it on camera so I could see how bad my face was.

There was a cut over my lip and one big one on my cheek. I got to work cleaning it up. Once I had done, I packed my bag, only taking all my clothes that fit me, money, makeup, and plasters.

I texted Ebony everything that had happened, but I made sure to leave out my dad, hurting me.

Nobody knew that my dad was an alcoholic or abusive. He changed when my mum died. Isaac picked me up from the hospital, and my dad wasn't there.

I thought I could run into his arms and cry. Tell him everything that happened. Everything I saw and heard. No. He was at the pub drinking and drinking. He came back, and I tried to talk to him, but he shouted at me.

Isaac had told me not to tell anyone. I could tell he was afraid, but I didn't know why. Not until now anyway.

I heaved my bags downstairs and chucked them into my dad's boot. Isaac was sat in the back waiting. My dad was nowhere to be seen. I sat next to Isaac and ignored his worry about my face.
