The Hogwarts Express was bustling with excitement as students reunited after the summer break. Inside our compartment, Ron, Harry, Hermione, and I were enjoying a variety of snacks and discussing what we were looking forward to this year.
"I can't believe we're finally heading back," I said, reaching for another Chocolate Frog. "This year is going to be amazing."
"Definitely," Harry agreed, flipping through the pages of a new book. "It's always nice to get back into the swing of things."
Ron, his face half-hidden behind a pile of Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans, added, "I'm just hoping we don't have another year of Filch's nonsense."
As we chatted, the candy trolley clattered down the corridor. I jumped up, eager to grab some of my favorites before it was too late.
"Hold on!" I called out, rushing to catch the trolley.
Just as I reached it, I accidentally bumped into someone, nearly knocking over a display of Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans. I looked up to see two boys standing in front of me. One had a sharp, intense gaze, and the other wore a mischievous grin.
"Oh, sorry!" I exclaimed, trying to steady myself. "I didn't see you there."
The boy with the sharp gaze gave me a small, amused smile. "No problem. We were just trying to decide what to get."
The other boy, still grinning, added, "You must be new here. We don't think we've seen you around before."
I nodded, feeling a mix of excitement and nerves. "Yes, I'm Abigail. It's my first time heading to Hogwarts. I missed the trolley when it went by my compartment, so I ran after it."
The boy with the intense gaze nodded thoughtfully. "Nice to meet you, Abigail. We were just about to head back to our compartment. If you want, you can join us. We've got plenty of snacks."
The other boy gestured to the trolley. "And there's more where that came from. Just let us know if you want to come along."
I hesitated, glancing back toward my compartment. "I should let my friends know first. They're just down the hall."
"Sure thing," the boy with the intense gaze said. "Just let us know if you decide to join us."
I turned and hurried back to our compartment, finding Ron, Harry, and Hermione still chatting and munching on snacks.
"Hey, guys," I said, catching my breath. "I ran into these two at the candy trolley. They invited me to their compartment. I missed the trolley, and they seemed nice. Do you mind if I go?"
Hermione raised an eyebrow. "Who are they?"
I shrugged. "They didn't mention their names. They just seemed friendly."
Ron's eyes narrowed. "If they didn't give their names, that's a bit odd. But if they're just Ravenclaws or something, it should be fine."
Harry nodded. "Yeah, as long as they're not troublemakers. If they're from Slytherin, though, we might have a problem."
Hermione gave a thoughtful look. "If they're Slytherins, it might be best to be cautious. But if you're interested in meeting them, it's your choice."
With their approval, I waved goodbye and headed back to the boys' compartment. They greeted me warmly as I rejoined them.
"Thanks for waiting," I said, taking a seat. "I had to let my friends know."
"No problem," the boy with the intense gaze said, handing me a package of Chocolate Frogs. "Help yourself. We were just discussing what we're excited about for the year."
The other boy added, "We've got plenty of snacks, and it's nice to have some company."
As I settled into a seat and began to enjoy the treats, I felt a sense of anticipation for the new friendships and adventures that awaited. The Hogwarts Express continued its journey, carrying us closer to the magical world and the many experiences that lay ahead.
