**Author's POV**

The lively sounds of the engagement faded into the background as Siya stood on the staircase of her home, her breath catching in her throat. In front of her was Dhruv, a face she had hoped never to encounter again. The man she had once trusted, who had shattered that trust with a single, unforgivable act. Memories of that night-his forceful attempt, his frustration when she refused-flashed before her eyes, tightening the knot in her stomach.

Dhruv's eyes narrowed slightly, a flicker of confusion crossing his face. "Siya... what are you doing here?" he asked, clearly taken aback by her presence. He hadn't expected to find her here. There was something unsettling in his gaze, a mixture of surprise and something unspoken.

Siya's heart pounded in her chest as she felt the weight of his words. The urge to leave, to escape the uncomfortable confrontation, was overwhelming. But before she could move, Dhruv spoke again, his tone shifting. "I didn't mean to upset you," he began, his voice almost pleading. "I just... I need to talk to you, to make things right."

Without another word, Siya took a step down the staircase, her movements deliberate but unsteady. She needed to get away from him, from the memories that haunted her. But before she could escape, the sound of approaching footsteps made her pause. Ashwin appeared at the entrance, his expression a mix of surprise and curiosity.

Ashwin's eyes flicked between them, recognizing Dhruv immediately as Sanvi's brother. But the tension in the air caught him off guard, leaving him unsure of what to say. "Siya?" he called out, his tone gentle but questioning. "Is everything alright?"

Siya hesitated, her gaze briefly meeting Ashwin's. "I'm fine," she replied softly, though the tremor in her voice betrayed her. She didn't dare look back at Dhruv, her focus solely on getting out of the house. "We should go back. Everyone's waiting."

"Yeah, let's go. Mumma was looking for you. What were you even doing?" Ashwin asked, walking beside her.

Siya started heading towards the entrance of the engagement venue, which was held in the garden. "Can't you see how decked up I am? I was just heading to my room to fix this dupatta-it won't stop slipping off my shoulder," she answered, her voice unsteady.

"You look gorgeous,Just like a princess. Are these the side effects of living in Delhi for so long without coming back home?" he asked playfully, his tone light.

Siya just nodded and kept walking, her steps unsteady.

"You know, there's someone special I want you to meet," Ashwin continued, his voice taking on a dreamy quality. "And the guy you were standing with is somehow related to this special person."

Siya stopped and looked at him, curiosity piqued. "Someone special? Who?"

"Remember that secret I mentioned the day you arrived? It's related to that," he whispered with a hint of excitement.
