**AUTHOR'S POV**
Siya lay in the hospital bed, her eyelids fluttering open only to shut quickly against the harsh brightness of the overhead light. Her head pounded as though someone had taken a hammer and struck her skull with all their might.
She tried to take in her surroundings, the sterile smell of antiseptic confirming that she was definitely not in her room. Glancing down, she saw a drip attached to her hand and realized she was wearing a navy blue hospital gown. The memories of falling down the stairs were still blurry, but she began to piece together what had happened.
Just as she tried to sit up, her father, Raman, entered the room.
"You're awake," Raman sighed in relief, rushing to her side. He was still in his wedding clothes, the perfect sea-blue kurta stained with blood.
Siya's eyes widened in concern. "What happened to you? Are you hurt?"
Raman sat down on the chair beside her bed. "I'm fine, beta. I'm so sorry for how I behaved. I don't even know how I could do that. Please, forgive me this once." He held her hands tightly, his voice trembling.
Siya looked at him, confused, unable to fully process what he was apologizing for. "What did you do?"
Raman looked at her, shocked. "Are you okay?"
Siya nodded slowly. "But my head... it's hurting so badly," she said, her voice innocent, as though she was trying to make sense of a complex puzzle.
The rest of the family entered the room, and Sudha rushed to Siya's side, tears streaming down her face. She hugged Siya tightly, even as Siya lay in bed. "Are you okay, beta? I'm so sorry," she cried.
"I'm fine, but what's wrong with all of you?" Siya asked, her voice faltering.
"What do you mean, what's wrong with us? You're the reason for all our worries," Sudha said, gently slapping Siya's hand in a motherly way.
"Thank God you're okay, shawty," Kirti said as she approached.
"What happened to me?" Siya asked, irritated by their behavior.
Kirti looked at her, unsure if Siya was joking, but the situation was too serious for jokes.
Seeing Anya standing beside Kalindi, Siya smiled slightly. "Bhabhi, why aren't you ready yet? The wedding is not next month."
"We're already married. Our wedding was yesterday. Don't you remember?" Anya asked, a hint of curiosity in her voice.
"Already married... When? I don't remember," Siya said, furrowing her eyebrows as she tried to recall.
Everyone stared at her in horror. Had she really forgotten last night? Could she not remember what happened? These questions swirled in their minds.
"You don't remember their wedding? Have you lost your memory?" Kirti exclaimed in shock. "Do you know who I am?"
Siya stared at her for a long moment. "Of course, Dumbo. You're Kirti." She paused, concern growing on her face. "Did I miss something?"
Just then, the doctor entered the room. "Please, don't crowd the patient. She's just regained consciousness. If you want to visit, do so in pairs," the doctor instructed, ushering most of the family out, leaving only Sudha, Raman, and Kirti.
"Doctor, she doesn't remember last night's events. Could she have lost her memory?" Raman asked, his voice filled with a mix of concern and panic.
