They got to the village only to find chaos.A group of ninja called the 'Sapphire' was trying to take over the village.Zaheer confronted their leader Sanfayji , however he refused to listen.He continued his overthrowing of the village until Zaheer stopped him by force,"Stop this Sanfayji.",he says with a steely voice, "Zaheer...old friend."Sanfayji says, remembering his voice. Zatanna ,overhearing their talk while fighting the ninja, couldn't believe what was happening.
Zatanna and Zaheer knew each other since they were teenagers, however they were not exactly friends.His past influenced the way she saw him and it wasn't a positive perspective that she had of him.But now he seemed different to her, its almost as if she's seeing a new version of him that she never saw before.It was cool for her to see a new version of him.
Sanfayji was best friends with Zaheer. They grew up with each other and they were inseparable, which all changed when Zatanna caught him robbing that shop, and at that precise moment, he fell in love. She was all he ever talked about and eventually he got tired of Zaheer's talks and they had a massive duel that is still being echoed about all around the world.
Zatanna finishes off the last of the ninja and decides to help Zaheer confront Sanfayji,"You guys make one hell of a power couple."he remarks with a smirk on his face.
Zaheer begins messing with his thoughts to distract him from his fate.He hated what he had to do with all his heart but he had no choice,"See you on the other side, old friend" ,he whispers to himself with a tear on his face as he makes the hard decision to kill him.
"So...you wanna talk about what just happened ?" Zatanna says with a hint of sarcasm in her voice. Sensing her change in perspective of him,"I suppose since we have to clean up this mess.",he almost whispers to her"But first, I have to bury him." Taking his lifeless body ,digging a hole for it and putting it in the hole was the hardest thing for Zaheer to do,"For her ,it's all worth it." he whispers to himself with tears dropping from his eyes for his fallen friend.
Back at the village, cleaning up the debris Zatanna wonders what might've happened between-"The two of us were best friends." he says, shattering the deafening silence,"That doesn't really explain everything that just happened in the last twenty minutes."she remarks ,now intrigued by his statement.Zatanna grabs him by the arm and demands"Why did you kill your best friend?".They were making physical contact ,allowing her to see whats going on in his mind,but this time couldn't block her as he could sense her magic had grown stronger and more intense.This was a huge catastrophe for him.
