The thoughts had been circling in my mind for days. Could he really stoop that low?
I shook my head, trying to shake off the worry.
I needed a distraction, something to clear my head.A perfect excuse for some sister time with Ivy.
I slipped into my favorite pair of low-waisted grey yoga pants and a matching tight top that hugged every curve.
As I glanced in the mirror, I felt a rush of confidence. This outfit was cute, and tonight was going to be just what I needed. Grabbing my bag, I left a quick message for Chloe, letting her know where I was headed, and jumped into my car.A plan began to form as I drove.
A movie night with Ivy, complete with all the snacks we could possibly eat. The closest store near Ivy's kindergarten wasn't too far, and luckily, it wasn't crowded when I arrived.
I grabbed a cart and began filling it with every snack that caught my eye, mentally preparing for a cozy night in.As I packed the bags into my car, a strange sound reached my ear
-muffled voices, low and threatening, just a couple of cars away.
I glanced over and saw them. Five men, surrounding a woman, trying to pull her into a black van. Her shopping cart stood abandoned, the trunk of her car still open.Instinct kicked in. I closed my car door, grabbed my gun from the front seat, and started walking towards them. The woman was struggling, her eyes wide with fear. I could feel my blood boil.
"What the hell is going on here?" I demanded, my voice cold and threatening.
One of the men glanced my way, mocking.
"Stay out of this, for your own sake b*tch."I scanned the scene. We were parked far from the entrance, no witnesses in sight. They looked high skilled. But that wasn't going to stop me.
I wasn't the type to walk away. Not anymore.A slow smirk curled on my lips as I spoke again.
"Look, my outfit is way too cute to get ruined today, so how about we just make this quick?"I toyed with my gun, letting them see it.
The tension was thick, and one of the men made a move, trying to shoot me.
Big mistake.
I swung hard, my fist connecting with his face, knocking him out cold. Two more advanced, but I held up a hand, stopping them.
"Hold on" I said casually, reaching into my bag.
I pulled out a transparent raincoat, slipping it on over my clothes.
Their confusion quickly turned to anger."What? Clothes after weather" I tested their patience.
"You think this is a joke, little b*tch?" one of them yelled. I shot him a deadly glare.
Their punches were weak, laughable even.
Ivy could hit harder than these clowns.
I took them down easily, leaving just two standing.
The woman, her eyes wide with a mix of fear and curiosity.
