Ember lost her dragon powers when she and her father, Drago were facing Garmadon, When Ember was about to embrace herself to her dragon powers, she got struck in the back with lightning by Iris (Harumi's step-sister), and the lightning was so powerful that it almost killed her. But she got brought back by the spirit of her mother, Agatha, but also lost her dragon powers in the process and her turned black and turned into full human. She has kept her identity a secret since the whole city, sons of Garmadon, Harumi and Iris thought she was dead, only Lloyd, Nya, Pixal, Skylor, Misako, Dareth, her father and her dragon, Fang kept her a secret while Ember heals from her wounds after Ember healed, she and Drago disguised themselves as a resistance members and changed their name, Koa and Joel. Until before Harumi died, when everyone were about to lose hope, Ember decided to send people a message and to finally showing her real name and her identity, she's done hiding and now it's the time for everyone in ninjago to know the truth. However Ember is overwhelmed and scared that everyone will hate her for vanishing and hiding herself. Drago tells her they'll understand and she inspired everyone also gave her courage that she can do it, Dareth filmed Ember, who's now delivering a tells about herself and tells everyone that Koa is not her real name, her real name is Ember and also revealed Drago's name and revealed that he's the Dragon King. When the rest of the ninja returned to ninjago and the team got united, before Lloyd confronts his father and Ember has to defeat Iris, they both wished each other luck. Ember kissed Lloyd, scared that she might not come back alive, Lloyd was initial shock of this. When the team won and the battle was over and the city is in peace for now. Lloyd and Ember did not discuss the kiss for some time afterwards.
