Hitomi felt annoyed.

It wasn't the most shocking news considering her general personality but she was even more annoyed than usual.

It was immediately chaotic when Hitomi arrived at her mission point. Many men were holding lamps and were frantically running around the place. They were shouting about "missing kids" and how they had to find them immediately.

She narrowed her focus on what looked like an old couple being questioned by a few of the village men. The lady was in tears as she looked like she was on the verge of collapsing due to stress if not for who Hitomi assumed to be her husband comforting her while trying to talk to the village men.

'There's my lead', Hitomi hummed while approaching the group.

"Excuse me, I need to talk to you."

The old man paused his words as the adults peered down at the girl. Every single one of their faces morphed into pure confusion but Hitomi paid them no mind, after all she didn't have time to talk to anyone that seemed unimportant.

"...Excuse me, I need to talk to you." she repeated, she masked her annoyance at the dumb looks that they were giving her.

One of the village guys snarled at her, "Get lost kid. This is a serious situation and you're at risk just being here. Now leave."

Hitomi let out a small sigh before turning back to the old couple. She wasn't quite sure how to go about interrogating people but seeing the old woman's state gave her the impression that she wasn't going to be much help. She needed information though so she attempted to converse with the old man instead.

"If I can just have a moment of your time mister," the Demon Slayer tried to morph her face into something of concern, "I would like to know what happened here...please."

Hitomi wanted to smirk in triumph when it worked. Maybe she can express her emotions properly after all. She ignored the odd look the adults shot her as a comfort to herself that it worked.

"Oh my...such a young lady like you needs to be careful after all," the old man spoke slowly, "Our granddaughter and her friends went to play but she hasn't returned. It has already been a full day."

'I'm guessing due to the amount of people gathered around here this village takes this very seriously. Good for them.'

Hitomi pondered that for a moment before asking: "Do you have any idea where she could be now? Any places that she may want to explore?"

'Are those even the right questions to ask? I should prioritize the demon, right?'

At this point the village man stopped glaring at Hitomi and turned to the old man in hopes for the same answer.

"Those kids usually play by our place but I have recently told my granddaughter that she should stay away from the abandoned mirror shop on the outskirts of town due to the mass disappearances. She is such a sweet child. There is no reason she wouldn't listen. Although, I was concerned when she convinced my wife to let her play with her friends for only a few hours until it turned dark." He finished then fished out a handkerchief ro give to his wife, who was still crying.

Hitomi looked down for just a moment before shooting her gaze at the village men who looked to understand the information. Seeing how they would be there if she found the kids made the girl slightly satisfied.

"You mentioned the abandoned mirror store has been the site of many disappearances. Are there any other places where people have been seen disappearing?"
