THREE

Every summer, the trainers leave for vacation but they allow anyone to come train freely by themselves. Personally I think that's a lot of trust in teenagers, but it's only us three that come train, and we're pretty trust worthy.

It used to be us four, it was super fun. We would mess around, spar with eachother, learn new tricks and teach eachother new things. I used to come here alone with Nico sometimes, it was peaceful.

I think my favourite thing about training with Nico was sparing. Not to brag but out of everybody in Easthaven, Nico and I were the best. Occasionally we would get cut up a little but it was nothing serious, by the end of the night we would be bandaging one another.

That's what I loved about our friendship, it was so pure, no hard feelings — or love feelings were involved, just a pure friendship. Sometimes I wonder what would happen if he came back to town, I don't know if I would be happy or sad or mad or whatever.

"Vianna, hello? Are you okay?" Maisie waves her hand infront of my face, the cool air making me blink out of my thoughts.

"Huh? Yeah I'm okay, just thinking." I mutter and raise my sword at one of the beat up dummies.

The silence is deafening besides the occasional sound at us swiping our swords in the air.

"Maisie?"

"Mhm?"

"What would you do if Nico came back?"

Maisie lowers her sword and blinks dumbly at me. "Well, I haven't really thought about it. We were pretty tight — all of us. I would probably just question him about everything and then hug the shit out of him." She chuckles lowly.

"What would you do?"

I hum and run my fingers along the scar across my cheek. "I wouldn't know whether to hug him or hit him. If I'm being real honest Maisie, I miss him a lot but I can't ever forgive him or what happened. He left me with a stupid scar and now I'm basically the prime suspect for bullies to bully at school." I huff and drop my sword, kneeling down to grab my waterbottle.

"Although he treated you like shit sometimes throughout your whole life, you's were pretty inseparable and close. You guys made a great couple, would you ever forgive him?" She raises her eyebrows playfully and giggles.

"Oh shut it, we were just friends. I don't know, I think I could forgive him one day but all this anger I've built up for him — I'd have to just let it out first, I don't know whether I'd need space or if I would want to take my anger out on him." I raise the bottle to my mouth and sigh at the ice cold water refreshing me, I put the bottle back in the bag and look up at the door to the centre being pushed open.

Nathan comes jogging in rushing over to our side.

"What's got you so worked up?" Maisie grins up at him and I chuckle, their height difference is amazing, he's a whole head taller than her.

"Vianna, I just saw Nico outside." He turns to Maisie and kisses her cheek, "Hi Mais."

I quickly raise to my feet and look up at him. "What?" I glance at Maisie.

"Nathan, that's not funny. We were just talking about him, were you spying on us?" Maisie's golden locks fall over her shoulders as she crosses her arms over her chest.

"I'm not lying, I just talked to him, he's literally outside."

I glance away lost in thought. Could he really be back? It's a possibility, his mother wouldn't send him away for good. I sheathe my sword and brush past them heading towards the door.

"Vianna, do you want me to come with?" Nathan calls out but I simply shake my head in response.

I push open the doors to the building and there he is, leaning against a wall with his sword down by his side. His black hair falling over his eyes, hiding the deep brown colour to them. His shirt clung to his lean figure, he had to atleast grown half a head taller than me.

"Nico?" I mutter out softly, my voice hoarse and just above a whisper.
