"Vianna." He clicks his tongue and takes a step towards me.

"When did you get back?" I look up at his tall figure, he had to be atleast half a head taller than me — actually, maybe a whole head.

"Earlier today. I came here to train but I didn't stop to think that you would be here — aswell as Maisie and Nathan. Where's Rosalie and Harrison?"

I shift my weight to my other leg uncomfortably. "That's a story for a different day."

He nods understandingly and the silence between us is unbearable. He takes a step closer, "Vianna, you know that I didn't mean to hurt you, it was an accident, you know that, you have to."

"Nico, you didn't bother to run after me, you didn't show up to my house to check up on me, and you didn't even text or call me! For years i let you take your anger out on me, but that was too far."

He looks away and takes a deep breathing, his body shuddering at the movement. There's a look in his eyes, regret? Guilt? Sadness? I can't pin point it.

"Vianna, even if I did do any of those, you would've pushed me away. I know you better than anyone else, I know how you can act. I said I'm sorry Vi."

He brings a hand up slowly and cups my cheek. His touch is comforting, it feels the same as it did a year ago but way better, it's as if I'm touch deprived. "Don't call me that." I reach up and pull his hand away from my face, dropping it by his side.

"We can talk things out, just like how we should've done it before." He mutters.

"Yeah well maybe another time, you can't expect me to be all happy and open after you show up to town without a warning." I turn away from him and walk towards the arena to get my belongings but Maisie walks over and hands me everything, she knows me too well.

"Thanks Mais." I take one last glance at Nico, he's definitely had a glow up within such a short amount of time — it's kind of amazing. I shoot him a sympathetic look quickly before hurrying off.

"I just want to fix things with her, I miss my bestfriend." Nico sighs and leans against a wall.

"She is being a little dramatic over this whole thing, you know how she is. Just give her some time to cool off, okay?" Maisie walks over and rests her hand on his shoulder comfortingly.

"Yeah.. yeah, okay."

Being neighbours was a good thing when we were bestfriends, but how am I supposed to get my own space when everyday I'll have to see his face? Unless of course I lock myself in my house.

We weren't really neighbours, we live in a court and there's a small house in between us, when i say small I mean one story.

In that case, I can see right into his window.

Nico is a very private, kept to himself kind of guy. He's never had his curtain or window open unless he was trying to throw rocks into my room or something.

Living in a court was kind of fun, Maisie lives next to me, and Nathan is next to Nico. Every week our parents get together to have dinner together at someone's house. Since Nico is back, I'm sure dinner is going to be at his house.

I open the door and step inside my room, the familiar scent of my warm vanilla perfume intoxicating my nose. I step towards my window and reach for the curtain, I look over at Nico's room, his lamp illuminating the rim of his curtain. In a swift motion I shut my curtain, the moonlight shining through a gap.

My head snaps towards my phone ringing on my bed, I mutter in distress before bringing the phone to my ear.

"Hello?" I mumble

"Dinner's at Mrs Rynes house tomorrow at 5." Maisie's chirpy voice rings in my ears.

"Knew it, why so early? It's usually at like 6:30 or 7."

"Dad said that all the parents have to go somewhere later to discuss something, so secretive right? They all want us to sleep at Nico's, he said they'll be back the next day."

I huff and and walk into my bathroom, being an only child is good, you don't have to share a bathroom with anyone. "They'll be gone all night? That's kinda weird, the last time this happened—" I pause and think deeply.

"—nevermind. So we have to stay at Nico's house tomorrow?"

She hums in agreement and I sigh. "Great."

"You'll live, we used to stay at his house all the time."

"Yeah but this is different, come over tomorrow around noon, please?"

"Yeah of course, can I bring Nathan?" I can't help but grin to myself, of course she asks.

"Yeah, I have to go." I place my phone on the counter and stare at myself in the mirror.

How could I make things right with Nico? Am I meant to forgive him or myself?

I feel horrible, all the past chapters have been so poorly written and this one took me like two days to write, but I'm gonna try finish five and six today 😭
