part 1.
BAU's new recruit

━━━━━━━━━━

Cassidy Carrington carried too many ghosts from her past. Their faces burned into her memories, actions they did were rooted deeply in her heart, and sometimes she could have sworn she was hearing their voices calling her name. Okay, maybe she was just going crazy and didn't want to admit it. It was a possibility she was willing to live with.

However, there was one voice that was always in her ears and mind, giving comments and scoldings. It was Lorna Carrington, Cassidy's one and only not-so-dear mother. The young woman loved Lorna more than anything and wished she was still alive, but at the same time, her mother could make Cassie go insane.

Cassidy was standing in the elevator that was slowly making its way upwards. There was a mirror mounted on one of the walls and as she was the only one in there, she turned to check herself out. She had dark brown hair, reaching almost the middle of her back which were wavy in its natural state but she liked to go over them with a straightener to give them more volume. The locks fall loosely on her shoulder, the black blouse she was wearing darkening her otherwise warm complexion. She had grey, straight-legged pants on and black high-heels to match her top but made sure it was appropriate for the office. Cassie did a slight touch of makeup before leaving her house which could have been barely noticed.

"You look like a circus monkey!" Lorna's raspy voice filled her mind. Cassie knew her mother adored her looks so it wasn't directed at that but rather her plan and the job she was wearing these clothes for. Her style was more casual than this usually.

Her time was up when the elevator stopped and the doors opened. Cassidy took a deep breath and made her way out of the small box with confidence, her bag slanged over one of her shoulder. Since she already signed the papers, she was aware of where she had to go so as she made it through the glass door to arrive at to the bullpen area, she didn't slow down as she made her way to the stairs that led up to Supervisory Special Agent Aaron Hotchner who was the BAU's unit chief.

– Woah, woah, woah, sweetheart, can I help you? – a voice stopped her before she could have reached the stairs.

Cassidy Carrington stopped to see who interfered when she was already going to be late, just to see a man with muscular build standing tall, eyebrows raised in confusion. He had a clean-shaved head, and chiseled features with defined jawlines and high cheekbones. He wore a fitted dark T-shirt and jeans.
