THIRD PERSON POV
at the Penthouse;
a blaring sound interrupted sunghoon's sound sleep, the sudden noise ringing in his ears. his first guess was that it was his alarm, but as far as he knew, its sound wasn't anything like this. then his thoughts clicked, his wife.
he got up and sat on the bed, steadying his vision at first. then he hovered over aera's body and extended his arm towards her phone, trying to turn the alarm off.
he put one hand beside her face on her pillow to support his body weight, the prominent veins on his arm flexing, and turned it off with the swipe of the thumb of his other hand.
he retracted his hand and was about to return to his earlier position on his side of the bed, before aera suddenly stirred awake, her eyes slowly fluttering open.
and before sunghoon had time to back out, aera's sleepy eyes met sunghoon's bewildered ones.
sunghoon's arms on both sides of aera's pillow, his eyes staring into hers.
the intimate position that they were in currently caused aera's cheeks to blush profusely as she lowered her eyes.
sunghoon stared at his wife, awestruck, long lashes falling over her blushing cheeks, soft tousled hair all over her pillow.
as he could feel a sense of warmth tugging at his heartstrings, he quickly got up, sitting up straight.
falling in love once ruined him enough. a second time wasn't necessary.
"i have a few important meetings today at the company. i won't return until midnight so don't wait up for me." sunghoon said, somewhat urgently and troubled, as he made his way to the washroom.
he made a mental note to himself to tell his secretary later on to move some of tomorrow's meetings to today, since he had originally cleared today's schedule days ago before the wedding.
JONGSEONG'S POV
at the Jong Airlines Headquarters;
it was currently close to midnight as i was still in my company. i usually had a pretty good work-life balance, at least a thousand times better than sunghoon's, but today was packed with several important meetings and the last one had finished about twenty minutes ago.
the client had left shortly after, and i also asked my secretary to leave so that i could be alone for some time.
quiet moments like this, filled with a sense of solitude, were something i cherished a lot, especially on days when i didn't quite feel like going home.
and today was one of those days.
a sudden ring of my phone broke my train of thoughts. i glanced at the caller id annoyed.
