The Apprentice.

Chapter Five

"Hi Annie" Carly called running up to the girl entering the nursery. 
"Hey!" Annie called back holding the door for her new friend. Since starting at the nursery she and Carly had become good friends, Carly would snapchat her most nights and they'd text most of the evening. She enjoyed having the company, Annie was happy to be back in her family home but it felt so lonely most nights, a four bedroomed estate house was a lot of empty rooms to fill for just one girl. 

The girls busied their morning by getting the baby room all set out ready for their babies, Charlotte had left the girls to open by themselves this week to see if they were up to the task and she'd arrive about 10 minutes early to check the room was all ready for the babies. 
"Oh Annie" Carly spoke up. "Marjorie mentioned yesterday we have to look at putting some annual leave in, have you got any holidays booked yet?" Annie placed down the final cup on the side and looked over at her "I don't I might go add some if you're alright finishing up in here?" 
"Yeah of course!" Carly called back. "Rooms done anyway" she smiled. 

Annie nodded and quickly made her way to the office, as she entered she froze, why was he here? "Annie?" the man spoke looking up from the file he had in his hand. "I wondered who'd Reece had hired as the new apprentice" The grin that spread across his face sent a shiver down Annies spine and she willed her feet to move. "My my" he continued as his eyes followed a line from her face, down her body and back up again. "You've grown up well" he smirked.

This sent Annie pelting out of the office only to run into Marjorie on her way in. "Alright my love?" Marjorice called holding the girl up, the fear on Annie's face hit her.Reece right behind her clocked it. "Annie what's going on!"
Before Annie could get a word out the man behind her spoke up. "Oh just startled her I think, poor thing didn't recognise me, thought I was an intruder" he chuckled slightly. 
"Oh Annie it's alright" Marjorie began hugging the girl whod face hadn't left Marjories chest. "I'm suprised you didn't recognise Roger, it's only been a few years since you lived together". 

Annie breathed and stood up "I-I'm sorry I think I was just confused, the office was dark" she faced Roger. "I'm sorry that I - I ran" she muttered her eyes lowering to the floor. 
Roger moved over to the group and Reece noticed Annie flinch slightly as he got close. 
"Oh no harm done, sorry to have startled you love, it's nice to see you home, I'm sure we'll be seeing more of each other." Annie was very good at faking a smile, she nodded her head. "I best get back to Carly" she finished frantically running off. 

"Bye Dad" Reece called watching Roger walk away out of the nursery, he turned to Marjorie who had an confused look on her face. "What do you suppose that was about?"
"I have no idea" Reece answered her question planting a kiss on her forehead. "I need to speak to Mie I know she saw her over the weekend"
MArjorie's face flashed with slight annoyance but then sofened at the thought of Annie's frightened face today. 
"Well hopefully Mia will be able to shed some light, it's so weird you said Annie lived with you when her family passed and then just suddenly up and left?" 
"Yeah we never knew why" Reece continued "But I intend to find out" his face changed slightly, he knew it had something to do with his father, Annie was never one to startle easily and her reaction today was one of pure fear, something he'd not seen in her face since the day her family had died in that house fire. 

Annie sighed getting back into the baby room seeing Carly on the ipad. "Are you alright Annie, you look like you've seen a ghost!" Carly called comming over to her.
"Yeah- something like that" Annie smiled back trying to control her breathing a bit more. "I ran into - Roger" She faked a laugh slightly. "Scared me to- to death" she managed to smirk to Carly. 
"Oh yeah he's creepy I always got a bad vibe from him" Carly spoke and turned back to the ipad. "Yeah" Annie laughed looking away. 

Reece had seen her face she quickly took her phone out and texted Mia. 'Met R today in the nursery, Reece saw' Annie didn't have to wait long until she saw Mia's text back. 
'We'll tell him together tonight if you want?'
'Yeah I think he and Autmn need to know I can't keep this up bumping into him all the time, they are going to find out, thanks for your support'

Note: Shorter Chapter, I find trauma really difficult to write about as I feel like it repeating all the time can get a bit boring to read but I hope you guys enjoy this part x
