HAYDEN AUSTEN AND THOMAS YIMTATU

Part of (Y/n)‘s motivations for becoming a teacher was to ensure no child gets left behind.

Some children have more difficulty grasping the knowledge of things than others, some despise studying at all and enjoy being more creative with their hands, others learn too quickly and their talents are limited by their grade.

In short, (Y/n) just wants each kid she teaches to enjoy the best years of their lives as small, care free children- who are so blissfully unaware of the dangers this world serves up with rusty cutlery- and to know that what they want is final, not the aspirations that others could force upon them.

The elementary school she taught at was not far from the home she grew up in alongside Hayden and Thomas- making it not feel like total freedom in the slightest. Although Hayden was locked up in a private psych ward- Thomas was only a 10 minute drive from her, and that fact was enough to keep her well behaved attire in front of others pristine.

“Miss! Did the dinosaurs come from space?”

A young 6 year old boy seated in the back called out, causing a wave of tiny giggles to flood the room.

“No, you dummy. They came from under the earth, in it’s lava layer. That’s why they’re able to breath fire, duh.” Another boy rolled his eyes, sticking his tongue out at the first. “That’s dragons, you idiot!” The girl beside him laughed.

“Shut up!”

“Hey now! Kind mouths, gentle words.” (Y/n) frowned, hands on her hips as she shook her head at her small students. “Jack, nobody knows where the dinosaurs came from. They might be from space, or under the earth too.” She smiled at both boys, who gleamed at their theories being possibilities. “Cool! Jack- I bet two chocolate bars that my theory is real.” Jack shook his small head.

“Nuh uh.”

“What do you meannuh uh’?”

(Y/n) sighed tiredly as a bickering took place among the two boys, their classmates piping some small comments in between shouts and yells.

While she was exhausted about handling such energetic children for 5 or so hours, she couldn’t help but smile at their brightness. It was scary just how intuitive kids really were, how they were able to comprehend everything around them to build up their intelligence. Their environments played a huge factor into that too, and it really motivated the (h/cette) to work harder.
