The psych ward didn't appear like it's cold, trapped and abused cousins.

Rather than plain grey walls and white floors, steel doors with hundreds of locks sealing the prisoners within, and padded rooms for the captives to sleep in- the rehabilitation centre looked much more like a children's hospital than a facility for the insane.

It had blue and white tiled floors, cream yellow walls and potted plants sprouting their dark green leaves; decorating the corridors. The rooms that the patients slept in were comfortable and clean; with a fitted bed, wardrobe and desk- where they could spend their days of insanity.

(Y/n) couldn't help but feel intimidated by the looks people were giving her. By their curious eyes as they watched her approach the visiting room. Her thumb was beginning to hurt under the constant nervous nibbling she was doing with her teeth, and she could feel it throbbing even when she tucked her hands in the pockets of her wool cardigan.

They most definitely knew who she was- the poor girl who was taken in by the family of one of the most unstable and crazed patients; Hayden Austen. His lunacy caused the death of two individuals, and he was only recently charged with double homicide.

The Austens were a rich family that easily managed to afford the best lawyers, and it was they who deemed fit to plea insanity at the time of murder. The judge agreed that Hayden should be granted a second chance- seeing how he was a young and bright man- and rather than go to prison for the rest of his life, he was sentenced to a psych ward for how many years the doctors saw fit.

The (h/cette) found herself pausing outside the visiting room, a trembling hand on its metal knob. A sudden intake of inexplicable fear washed over her, causing her to freeze immediately.

Only she knew the truth that the lawyers tried to push away from the eyes of justice; Hayden was never crazy.

He deliberately went out of his way to murder those two men in cold blood, alongside his best friend and accompliance; Thomas Yimtatu. But only one took the fall for the crime, so the other could stay and keep an eye on her. So that she couldn't escape.

The doctor that was guiding her to the visitation center tilted his head to look at her. "Miss (L/n)? Is something wrong? Why aren't you going in?" He questioned worriedly. "If you feel nervous perhaps, of meeting Mr Austen, you needn't worry- his treatment is going splendidly." He added, beaming proudly. (Y/n) gave him a weak smile. "That's.. good to hear.." She trailed off, feeling even more scared than before.
