Lucas Pov

*Beep! Beep! That's the sound of da police!*

My hand fumbled around the nightstand, trying to silence the annoying alarm. My eyes were still heavy with sleep, but the blaring noise wasn't giving me much of a choice.

*Beep! Beep! That's the sound of da beast!*

Finally, I managed to smack the alarm clock, and the room fell blessedly silent. I sighed in relief, letting my hand drop back onto the bed.

Mom:Lucas, your going to be late for your first day of school!

I groaned, forcing myself to sit up. My body protested every movement as I swung my legs over the side of the bed. Today was supposed to be a big day-my first day at Canterlot High in the Equestria Region. New school, new start, and hopefully, no more bullying.

I rubbed the sleep from my eyes and tried to focus. I couldn't help but feel a mix of anxiety and hope. Back in the Fochun Region, things hadn't been easy. The kids there were... different, and not in a good way. Every day was a struggle, facing bullies who seemed to have it out for me just because I didn't fit in with their chaotic ways. But Equestria was supposed to be different. Mom had said this region was known for its welcoming communities and kind people. And, to top it all off, Principal Celestia and Vice Principal Luna had arranged for me to receive my first Pokémon today. They hinted that it might even be a Pokémon from Fochun, which made my stomach twist with both excitement and nervousness. I knew the starters from my home region well enough. One of them would become my partner, my first real step into the world of Pokémon training. The thought gave me a small thrill, but it was hard to shake the memories of the harsh words and sneers from my old classmates. Would the students here see me as just another freak from Fochun?

Mom:Lucas! Breakfast is ready!

Lucas:Coming!

I called back, pushing myself off the bed. I grabbed some clothes-a plain shirt, jeans, and a official Kanto Pokemon league hat that I bought online, nothing fancy-and threw them on. As I stared at my reflection in the mirror, I took a deep breath. I could do this. It was a fresh start. I grabbed my backpack, made sure I had everything I needed, and headed downstairs. The smell of breakfast-pancakes, my favorite-greeted me as I entered the kitchen. Mom was already at the stove, flipping another batch.

Mom:Morning, sleepyhead.

She said with a smile, glancing over her shoulder.

Lucas:Yeah, I guess...

I replied, sliding into a chair at the table.

Lucas:Nervous too, though. Mom...

Mom:Yes honey?

Lucas:What if… What if they don’t like me here either?

Mom turned off the stove and walked over, placing a reassuring hand on my shoulder.

Mom:Lucas, honey you’re a good kid. Just be yourself, and I’m sure you’ll make friends here. And remember, you're getting your first Pokémon today. You’re never alone as long as you have them with you.

I nodded, but the knot in my stomach didn’t quite loosen. It was easy for her to say, but I knew all too well how judgmental people could be. Especially when they knew where you were from. Breakfast was quick—mostly me pushing food around my plate while trying to calm my nerves. Before I knew it, it was time to go. Mom handed me my lunch, gave me a quick hug.

Mom:Good luck sweetie. Try to make friends as well.

Lucas:I'll try...

The walk to school was a blur. Canterlot High wasn’t too far from our house, but the closer I got, the more my heart raced. The building loomed ahead, taller and more imposing than I’d expected. Students were milling about the front entrance, chatting and laughing like they didn’t have a care in the world. I took a deep breath and walked up the steps, trying to keep my head down. Maybe if I just—
