The Obscurial

We all hurried out the case to the roof. An angry black ball of swirling dust and red lights was raging though the streets.

"Is that the obscurial thing?" Jacob asked.

"That is more powerful than any obscurial I have ever heard of..." Newt said without taking his eyes off it. It was huge compared to the girl we met in Africa. I held onto Newt's hand.

Newt turned and handed Tina his case and fished his notebook out to give to her too. "If I don't come back, please look after my creatures. Everything you need to know is in there and Raven loves to correct people so you'll be fine. He prized my hand of his. "I need you to behave for Tina ok?"

"What?" Tina was just as confused as I was. "They're not killing it," Newt said standing up. He turned and leaped off the roof disaperating just as he fell out of sight. I ran to the edge and saw where he aperated. He was so close to a building the obscurial was currently hovering over.

"You heard him, look after them!" Tina handed the case to Queenie before following Newt to the ground. If Tina didn't have to do what Newt said then neither did I! I shifted and jumped off the roof with Queenie and Jacob calling after me.

I couldn't see where Newt or Tina had gone but I guessed it was probably towards the obscurial. If Newt had disaperated away from it I'd hope he'd gone to a hospital.

It had stopped moving and a man was trying to talk to it. As I got closer I heard a voice that was loud but faint like someone trying to whisper but not doing a good job at it.

He doesn't want you. He was using you. Scared. Shouldn't have killed them. Your fault.

It was coming from the obscurius. I flew closer. Hello?

It didn't reply but it went quiet. It had no eyes but I could feel it watching me. Maybe it didn't speak dragon. I didn't know how else to talk to it and all this hovering was making my wings tired.

Can we go somewhere else? Tired, I said but it still said nothing. A woman jumped out from behind a turned over car and started yelling at the man. It was Tina. She startled the obscurial and it shot towards me.

I shut my eyes and I thought it would hurt but it didn't. I wasn't being attacked. I was being taken. It held me close as we weaved through the city. It shattered the glass on all the buildings and come of them even crumbled a bit as we went past. Lights started blinking on the edges of the rooftops. It wasn't lights it was wizards and they were attacking us.

The obscurial went faster and higher to get out of reach and then dropped. The landing wasn't hard but it was sudden. The obsurial was gone and a boy stood looking over me. I shifted and got to my feet. His eyes widened a bit but he didn't really stop to think before grabbing my hand and pulling me down some stairs to a train station.

"Who are you? What did you do to me?" he asked.

"I didn't do anything." I said. That wasn't good enough for him. "No you were in my head I could hear you in my head!" he said.

"Can you hear the voices too? Tina says I'm a legy mens," I asked. The boy looked confused. I guess he didn't and I'm just weird.

There were footsteps coming from the stairs. The boy took my hand and ran. He pulled me down onto the tracks and into a little ditch at the side. The steps stopped. I went to peak out from above the ditch but the boy dragged me back and put a hand over my mouth.

"Credence?" it was Newt. "it is Credence isn't it? I'm here to help you. Credence. I'm not here to hurt you." He was speaking with his especially soft voice that he used when he had a new creature. I tried to pull away from the boy but he held me tight.
