Thank You

Ito did as promised and we did night watch again until the sun rose once more. If this was any other day I would ask Touya to take a picture or to brew some coffee. The thought made me feel cold even in the morning sun. I decided that I could look at  my wound before Ito woke up and hopefully clean it. I grabbed the bottom of my pants and pulled them up to reveal a blood soaked old cloth, the only thing that was good was the fact it was old blood. I took off the make-shift wrapping the cold air and finally gracing the wound made me suck in a tight breath. 

I looked down and saw it had scabbed over mainly red and irritated around the cut itself. I worried about infection but I couldn't do much for an infection either way so what more could I do if that were the case? I grabbed some water knowing we would have to go out and try and find somewhere to get water that day. I hissed at the cold water hit my leg, goosebumps rising on my arms from the temperature change on my body. I put the bottle down and lightly rubbed the water around hoping that'd do some sort of good for me in the future. 

I felt Ito shift next to me while slowly opening his eyes before quickly closing them, understandingly not a fan of the bright sun. "Mornin' bud" I said patting his gently on the shoulder. He groaned and sat up to stretch refusing to open his eyes and let the sun win its battle. I got up allowing my scabbed over wound to breath and grabbed the bag that held our materials. "I got some buns and erm.. some jam packets? Is that okay with you?" I was almost scared that he wouldn't approve but he nodded and rubbed his to look at me. 

He looked at my leg before saying "What happened?" I smiled knowing he would worry. "I got scrapped up real bad in the woods before I found you so it's still a bit new." It wasn't a lie technically.. okay maybe it was. He nodded while I handed him his breakfast, "We will need to grab some water in the city today, I don't think there are any streams around here." 

He bit down onto the soft bread and smiled, which gave me the go ahead to grab my own and begin eating. I had a habit of making a game plan with those around me for the day which is exactly what I did.. to a seven year old boy. "Okay so we are gonna head east, make it to the city.. I know there are a bunch of convenience stores that could be good enough to raid. Afterwards we will walk along the city just to scavenge and maybe help a few people if need be, although it's highly unlikely. Then we will walk at least a mile and a half to get back on track for my mess up yesterday." I mumbled to myself as if speaking with the league so when I looked up and saw a concerned seven year old I couldn't help but laugh a bit. "Hey don't judge.. It's good to have a plan just in case" I showed a soft smile and he simply nodded before smiling back at me.

We finished eating and began packing up. I made sure to make it a habit of leaving absolutely nothing behind. We began to walk towards the city which of course was destroyed, a path made clearly by Gigantica. Homes were smashed, buildings collapsed, small blotches of blood could be seen which I assume were from civilians and heroes. Ito seemed angry at the sight and I couldn't blame him. "Villains always go after those who actually have lives because they don't have one of their own." Ito said to himself and it hurt but I couldn't straight up say 'Hey be nice to me' or something but he shrugged, "Some are nicer though.. I think they just get confused about where they're supposed to be." 

I smiled beneath my mask knowing he couldn't see it, "Yeah some are just misunderstood and needed some guiding." He nodded in agreement before pointing at a small store that only had a piece of cement in its window. "Yes! Good eye Ito" I ruffled his hair and we began to walk into the store. I kept one hand on my gun just in case I needed to defend us. I handed Ito our bag and shooed him away to go get some of the waters in the back. I was gonna stand guard at the front of the store and I smiled hearing him yell, "I found water! A butt-load too!" I chuckled softly before hearing a bang. 

I whipped my head around to see Ito in a masked mans grasp and in his other hand held our bag, "Well look at you with all of this stuff.." He said shaking the bag around as if to estimate how much was within the bag. "Put him down." I stepped closer but froze when I saw him grip tighter on Ito.

"Give me the gun and supplies and we will give you the boy.. fair trade I think." I rose my hands up "Fine.. I'm gonna grab my gun now so don't be worried.." I slid my hand back down to my gun and slid it across the floor and kicked it even further. "Now give me the boy."

Instead of simply dropping Ito, he threw him into an aisle. "YOU BASTARD" I yelled at him before running towards him. He seemed ready for punch but was met with me sliding across the tile floor and kicking his feet from beneath him. His head bounced onto the ground and I quickly stood up now tracking his every move. I grabbed my gun and ran over to Ito and held his head to my chest and muffled his hearing. 

The second the man got up to move towards us and shot. The bullet flew and entered his chest making his eyes go wide and the feather flew up and cut straight through the man's throat. My breathing was heavy and I could feel Ito shaking. I cursed myself for leaving him in the store, even if I truly thought no one was inside. I picked him up and made sure he didn't look at the man. The feather, or technically, Keigo picked the bag back up but was struggling. This told me that the feather wouldn't last much longer. 

Once we stood outside I grabbed the bag and set Ito down. "Are you feeling any pain in your head, are you gonna pass out?" I was scared of a potential concussion but he only shook his head and softly said, "Thank you.."

Hello Lovelies! I know "why are there only 2 updates this week" well to answer that, I'm in school and I'm trying to balance everything at the moment. I am in all honors and trying to do other things so I can start my time in the work force after my senior year. I am going to continue to update this book but instead of 3 it will only be 2 each week. Thank you for all the support on this book!
