Blue eyes of a male scanned the harbor as the boat approached. Blue hair blew behind them as they stretched lightly. The boat docked as he got off and looked around.
"Ok... let's see."
He pulled out a paper and hummed. This was the location of where he was told to meet. His soon-to-be Base Leader, Sage, had told him to meet him at the harbor. But he wasn't here. Maybe he was on his way? Probably. He sighed as he sat down on a nearby bench.
He had left his gentle mother to come work as a Physical Ranger in Fiore. She had said she would join him soon, but he could only give a weak smile as she had to go lay down. He wasn't sure how much longer she would last, but he knew that he had to at least try to take care of her. He hugged his bag close as memories flooded his mind. He hoped she made it-
A noise cut through the memories and grabbed his attention. He perked up as a small pokemon dodged a slightly bigger pokemon, escaping quickly with it hot on its tail. He sighed. Something he shouldn't be concerned about. He zoned out before a pair of voices caught his attention.
"You don't even know what he looks like."
"... Tall. That's all I was told in the letters."
"That's vague. Especially since a tall person can shrink by sitting and slouching."
The male looked towards the conversation as two people looked around. A teal haired female and a green haired male looked around as the green one sighed.
"You're right. I should've asked. That's on me." The female glanced at him.
"It's alright, Captain. Let's just try to make it back before Cedar." Blue eyes scanned them as the other male nodded. He then stood up and went over.
"Captain Sage?" The duo turned as he straightened up. "Lapis. I'm who you're looking for." The green haired male paused before smiling.
"Ah... good. I thought I wouldn't get a chance... It's good to meet you in person." Lapis smiled as they shook hands. "Lapis, this is Star, a Battle Ranger that works with me." She shook his hand.
"Nice to meet you Lapis." She sighed. "Well, we better get going. Cedar might be back."

The trio entered a small town as Lapis looked around. He joined them as they entered a building near a corner of the town. A brown haired male glanced over at them with a hum.
"You guys are behind..." Sage sighed as they went over.
"First of all, you, what, took 4 seconds to do 5 missions I gave you?" The boy shrugged as he sighed. "Second of all, I was working with a very vague description in a crowd. Hush." Another shrug followed as the boy stood up and looked over Lapis.
"This the new guy?" Sage mumbled something under his breath before nodding.
"Yep. This is Lapis, our new Physical Ranger. Lapis, this is Cedar. He's the Base's Magical Ranger." They shook hands before Lapis turned to the green haired ranger.
"You didn't mention Magic Rangers-"
"Magical Rangers are just Physical Rangers with magic. They are nothing more than that." He sent a look at Cedar, who purred.
"It's a little more complicated than that, but yes. We Magical Rangers can do what the Regular Rangers cannot. Though, there are some that are seen as threats and what not... don't pay mind to that." Sage growled before he regained his composure.
"Regardless... Let's get you your uniform and gear."
