ELENA BLACKWOOD

"Hey mom"

"What are you doing?" Mom asked instead of any hello looking sceptically through the screen of phone since we were face timing.

"Nothing much, just brought some groceries and fruits so placing them in the refrigerator" I answered.

"Did you wash them?"

"Yup, I did" I lied placing another apple in the freeze.

"Stop lying Elle, I could clearly see something on that apple you just put in the refrigerator." Oh god, I prayed internally to heavens closing my eyes, mom and her obsession with cleanliness and how the hell she even notice something on the apple from the other side of the phone. Her eyes were literally magnifying glasses.

"I swear I always wash them before eating mom" I said exhaustedly.

"And what's the problem in washing them before putting them in. How many times I've told you to always wash fruits and veggies after buying them. Do you have any idea...

"Mom" I snapped cutting her short. If she starts her lecture on cleanness than all day is gone.

"You should better see a doctor soon; your OCD is really getting out of control" I joked in a serious tone. Mom frowned on that side, and I heard a loud throaty very well-known manly chuckle from the back. Mom doesn't have OCD but at times like this, I really doubt. The doctor denied it, but dad and I have always agreed that she has a bit of that effect in her.

"What are you laughing at Dom?" She snapped at dad who was laughing behind, and the chuckling died immediately as he came forward with that straight look on his face.

"Your mom is right Elle, you should wash whatever the grocery you brought, do you have any idea how many bacteria's they have. I am completely on your side on this Lily" he said raising his hands in air in surrender while I smiled looking at them bickering as mom retorted back clearly knowing he's mocking her. God, how much I miss them.

"You and your daughter, only you two people are smart on this earth right, others are all just fools roaming around" I heard mom shouting and leaving the kitchen frowning.

"But none of us ever said that" Dad yelled from behind chuckling.

"You pissed her off dad" I said laughing along with him once she was out of sight.

"She and her tantrums, nothing new. I know her well, will persuade her later. You tell, how are you doing?"

"Great, same routine every day." He hummed in response, his expressions slowly turning grave, the humor completely gone.

"Is everything going smoothly, did you see anything strange or weird, or someone...

"Dad, nobody recognizes me here. No one knows me instead of people at my work and neither do I talk to anyone unnecessarily. You should stop worrying about it, it's been more than a year since I am here, and everything is going fine." What happened six years ago left an impact behind and just like those memories follows me, dad thinks the danger too. He never forgets to ask me the same thing every time we talk.

"You never know Elle?" He replied in serious tone, hard lines of tension engraved on his face.

"I know dad, but six years had gone after that. A lot has changed, even I've changed. If anything was about to happen it would've been happened by now. You should also stop worrying about it. We have passed that time" I explained.

"Danger doesn't care about time Elena, one should always be cautious about it. The shadow of past always looms around us even when the past is long gone, and you know that better than anyone because you are still stuck in there somewhere with your memories, just the form has changed." No matter what I say to convince him, but dad knows because no matters how many lies, I told others and myself, but I can't look in my parents' eyes and lie to them. After that incident Dads instincts always remain high on guards fearing that the shadow from my past will engulf me someday. If it wouldn't be for my studies and future dad would've never let me leave our small town and came to Winchester, he become so hypervigilant after that incident.
