"Richard! Emmeline!" It was Richard's father, Arthur's voice. The crew carried the sleeping bodies of Richard, Emmeline and Paddy onto the ship. They laid them down gently on a large cot. The warm sun beamed down onto them, slowly waking them up. Richard thought he must be dreaming. He then slowly opened his eyes. "Is this heaven?" He asked groggily. His father was standing right in front of him. He was on a cot on a ship and to the left of him was Paddy and Emmeline, still sleeping. "Father?" Richard said as he began to realize where he was. "Yes, Richard. It's me." His father said with tears spilling out of his eyes. "Oh father!" Richard said and embraced his dad, sobbing with happiness. The crew shed a few tears seeing Richard reunite with his father after all these years. They know how hard he worked to find them and that he never lost hope.
Then suddenly, Emmeline stirred in her sleep. "Richard? What happened?" She asked sleepily, and then she opened her eyes. She sat up slowly, and saw her Uncle Arthur. Tears immediately filled her eyes. "You-You came back for us!" She hugged her uncle and did not want to ever let go. Everyone on the ship was filled with happiness for the reunion with his beloved niece and son. Then, Paddy started crying and woke up. Emmeline rushed over to him and held him in her arms. "Shhh, Paddy it's okay. We're safe now." He immediately calmed down after hearing his mother's voice and seeing her face. Richard came over to them and wrapped his arms around Emmeline holding both her and Paddy.
His father looked surprised and slowly walked over to the two. "Is this...?" He started. "Yes father. This is our son." Richard said with a smile. "Paddy." Emmeline added. At the mention of his name, Paddy clapped his hands together happily. "May I?" Arthur asked, holding open his arms. Emmeline and Richard smiled at each other, handing their baby to Arthur. Arthur looked at the baby with pure happiness and delight. He was a grandfather. "Hello Paddy! I am your grandfather Arthur!" Paddy grabbed his grandfather's face and giggled happily. Then he pointed his little finger at Richard. "WITCHARD!" He exclaimed excitedly. Everyone laughed again at the cute child. "Yes Paddy, I'm here!" Richard said, taking Paddy into his arms. Arthur smiled at the three of them and could not be happier. The two greatest people in his lives had survived all of these years, plus one. The ship headed back for San Francisco and everyone was filled with joy. Richard and Emmeline had returned.
