~Three days before the annual asteroid power manifestation check-up~

Friday, June 28th.

Lee is walking towards his classroom with his powered friend, June Richards, while holding a pamphlet given to parents for the annual asteroid visit.

"Are you really planning on going on that asteroid visit again, Lee?" June puts his face very closely to Lee's face, eyeing Lee up and down from shoe to forehead.

"June, you really didn't have to stretch your face that far..."
Lee sighs, feeling disgusted that his friend's face is a couple centimeters off from touching his.

"You know that I find my elasticity powers fun."
June stretches his head back into his body, and laughs, despite Lee's protests.

"Sometimes I wonder if Sinmara and Surtr made the right choice of recreating us."
Lee retorts back, obviously making fun of June.

"You still believe in that stuff, Lee? Surtr and Sinmara are just characters from a storybook." June snorts at Lee.

"Mom told that story to me a bajillion times as a kid. She believes it, and I think I do too. She said that believing in Surtr and Sinmara gave her hope that even though there'll always be evil, there are people who use their gifts to fight for peace, and end all evil. To be a hero." Lee tells June, his face focused on the ground, focusing and fully believing what he has to say.

"Well, there are people out there using their powers for the betterment of the world. Heroes, you know? Like uh... Combustion? Your father?" June slightly gets quieter as he mentions Combustion. He knows that it's quite a sensitive topic for Lee.

Lee sighs

"He barely does anything except save cats stuck in trees nowadays...  Hell, I'm his son, and I haven't seen his face. But yeah, I guess you could call him a hero, I just wish he was home more often. Ever since mom died, he drowns himself with his super work with the Super Society." Lee frowns, he was still hurt by the death of his mother.

Lee sighs again.

"I'm sorry man..." June was silent.

"No, it's fine June. Dad tried his best for mom. And even though she died, I know she'd be proud of him." Lee smiles weakly, although he spent a small amount of time with his mother, he remembers her fondly.

Lee pulls out the asteroid visit pamphlet and takes a look at it.
"And I wish she could be proud of me too."

The duo walks a couple more minutes, until then they arrive at their designated classroom.

"Let's talk later, okay?" June smiles at Lee as they walk inside.

"Yeah, I'll have a little nap first, homework took way too much time dedicated for sleep last night. Tell Jamie to give me a little nudge when Professor Charles arrives."
Lee tells June, as they part ways and walk towards their own desks.

Lee sets his backpack on his desk, and sits on his chair. He stretches, and uses his backpack full of books as a pillow.

A few minutes later, just as Lee was about to fall asleep, a tall figure tapped Lee's shoulder. It was a student.

Lee however, doesn't move an inch. He lacked the energy to talk, and wanted to sleep so he could stay awake for the incoming classes.

The tall figure pulls out a lighter from his jacket pocket and then suddenly, the sound of a lighter opening resonates and a bright orange light materializes in the tall figure's index finger on his right hand.

"Asshole." The tall figure whispers, as his burning bright orange finger sizzles the skin off of Lee's nape.

"Fuck!" as Lee stands up from the pain, three other students seize him, and hold him down, face on his own desk, backpack now on the floor.
