As Omer sprinted upstairs to search for Doga, he caught a glimpse of her running out the front door with a backpack slung over her shoulder. "Doga?" His heart dropped into his stomach.
"Doga, wait!" he yelled, his voice filled with desperation
"What happened?" Kivilcim cried out in panic
"Kivilcim, you wait here. Wait here" Omer ordered.
Doga dashed down the driveway and into the street. Omer ran after her, his mind racing as a car honked loudly, narrowly missing Doga as she crossed the road.
"Doga, stop! Where are you going?" Omer shouted, his voice screaming with panic. He pushed himself faster, trying to close the distance between them.
Omer's heart was pounding in his chest as he kept his eyes on Doga, who was running down the street, her backpack bouncing with every step. He quickened his pace, desperately trying to catch up to her.
"Doga, kizim, stop! Running away isn't the answer! Let's talk" he shouted, his voice filled with desperation. They were close to coming to a road with heavy traffic.
Doga looked back briefly, her eyes flashing with anger. "Leave me alone! You're not my dad!" she screamed before turning and continuing to run, her pace quickening.
Omer pushed himself harder, closing the gap between them. But just as he was about to reach her backpack to get a hold of her, she darted across the road.
"Doga, get back here!" Omer called out, not noticing the car speeding toward him. His focus was solely on Doga. He didn't see the vehicle until it was too late.
The screeching of tires filled the air, followed by a thud as the car collided with Omer. The impact sent him sprawling onto the pavement. Everything seemed to happen in slow motion—the car stopping abruptly, the driver's horrified face, and Omer's body hitting the ground.
Doga turned around just in time to see Omer get hit. Her scream echoed through the street as she watched in horror. "Mr. Omer!" she cried out, dropping her backpack as she ran back toward him. "Mr. Omer?"
Omer lay on the pavement, struggling to breathe, pain radiating through his body. He could hear Doga's footsteps, her frantic voice calling his name, but his vision was beginning to blur.
Kivilcim, who had been chasing after them with her car, froze in place as she saw what had happened. A cold shock coursed through her veins as she ran towards them, her mind unable to process the scene in front of her.
"Omer, no!" Kivilcim screamed, her voice breaking as she knelt beside him, her hands trembling as she reached out to him. "OMER!!"
Doga fell to her knees on the other side of Omer, her face pale with fear. "I'm sorry... I'm sorry..." she kept repeating, tears streaming down her cheeks.
Omer winced, trying to focus on the faces of the two people he loved most. "Doga... Kivilcim..." he whispered, his voice weak.
Suddenly, a man emerged from the car that had struck him. His face was pale, and his hands were shaking as he approached, clearly in shock. "Is he... is he okay?" he stammered, his voice filled with a mix of concern and fear.
Kivilcim's eyes flared with anger as she turned to face him, her emotions boiling over. "Are you blind? You hit my husband!" she snapped, her voice trembling with both fury and fear.
The man looked taken aback, raising his hands defensively. "I'm sorry, but he came out of nowhere! This is a busy street—he needs to watch for cars!"
Kivilcim's anger only intensified at his words. "Watch for cars?" she repeated with disbelief. "My husband was trying to save our daughter! You should've been paying more attention instead of speeding down a street full of people!"
