THE BRIDGERTON HOME

It was the middle of the night when the noises had started. Thumps, loud bangs, movement through the corridor and inhuman growls.

Hyacinth sat up clutching to her legs. Within moments, Gregory ran into her room, putting a chair against the door to hold it close.

"Hy, did you hear that?"

Hyacinth nodded "What is it?"

"I do not know". He sat on the bed next to his sister holding her tight. He told himself that he was there to protect his sister. But in truth he was terrified. Safety in numbers.

The banging got louder. It sounded like it was just outside the door. Then the door handle shook. Hyacinth was in tears, squeezing Greg's hand.

The noise stopped.

Morning came, and they both slept holding each other tightly.

A knock came at the door "Hyacinth, time for the modeste!"

Hyacinth jumped off the bed. Her mum shook the door. "Dearest I think something is blocking the door"

Hyacinth moved the chair and opened the door. Her body shaking.

Violet wrapped her arms around her "My dear, What is wrong?" she spotted Greg on the bed tightly squeezing the duvet. "Children. Whatever is wrong?"

she walked to the bed sitting Hyacinth down on the bed next to Gregory.

She held both their hands and leant on the floor "Tell me!" her voice stern.

They both looked at the door. Fear in their eyes.

Is it not Colin that is possessed. Is it something in this house and we have had Colin tied up this entire time.

Violet took the Children to Eloise's room and pushed them through the door.

"Mother!" Eloise belted.

"Eloise I do not have the time" Eloise just looked at her dumbfounded.

"Block yourselves in" she nodded to Gregory.

Violet walked down the corridor to where Colin was being held.

His sleepy eyes opened, as Violet was untying the restraints.

Colin gripped her hands "Mother, what are you doing?"

"Whatever it is my boy, it is not in you. It is in this house"

"Mother, you need to tie me back up at once, or you will all be in danger" his voice rose. His body shook out of fear, but not for hiself.

"Colin. No, it is not you"

"The children heard it in the corridor"

Colin desperately tried to tie the restrains back using his teeth.

A quiet terrifying deep gravel voice came from Colin.

"Oh mother. What a fool you are! All the hurt I will cause will be on your pretty little hands"

Violet turned to face him. His eyes yellow and face contorted into a sneer.

A laugh bellowed. It stood, brushing past his mother "Thank you my wrists were feeling itchy" another laugh, it leant in close to Violets ear "Perhaps, you should have listened to your two oldest boys. I will tear them apart piece by piece" it threw her into the wall.

Then it was gone.

Violet sat on the bed weeping what have I done. Anthony entered the room.

"He is gone" her voice trembling.

"How? I tied those restrains myself, they would of held a large animal"

"I untied him"

Anthony hand went over his mouth "What were you thinking, mother. Do you not know what it's capable of" he was trying to control his temper. Not wishing for his mother feeling any worse than she already did.

"Whatever it was, it was taunting the youngest last night. Terrifying them from beyond the door. It could not have been Colin. He was still on the bed"

"It gets in peoples heads mother and you just released it"

He started to pace "I will take Benedict and find him"

Violet nodded.

It had been days and no one had seen Colin.

THE FEATHERINGTON HOME

Penelope was having a much deserved respite, Violet was to pay a visit to her home, she was alone and her thoughts were constantly on Colin. Was he alright. Was he lying in a ditch somewhere. One thing was certain, when he is found, he will not be Colin anymore.

Violet was fearful. Scared. She wished to visit Pen, she was her daughter in a respect. As she has always thought of her as such. Even though she clearly was not. Her children definitely saw her as such. Apart from Gregory who appeared to have a small crush on the youngest Featherington. She let her oldest escort her to the Featherington door.

Anthony stayed at the door briefly. His eyes pierced. He was on high alert. Terrified to see Colin's face. See what he would do. When he saw all was clear he made his way slowly home.

Pen did not want to call Varley, she headed down to the kitchen to fetch some water.

A hand grabbed her from behind.

"Colin?"

"Hi Pen" his tone was his own.

Pen took a deep sigh of relief "I have been so worried"

"Have you? How worried?"

She frowned not really knowing why she had to elaborate "Very worried"

"Why Pen. I am not your friend. You do not care for me" he seemed distraught.

"I was upset. Can you blame me?" her eyes tried to read his, but she saw nothing. Just emptiness. She felt a chill go over her arms. Goosebumps had already made her way up her neck. Something was wrong.

He leaned in closer to her so her hand was on his chest to stop him.

"I know you want to, Pen"

"You know nothing about me, Colin. Please leave"

Colin pulled her head up, kissing her forcibly. She had wanted Colin, but not like this. She was scared. She tried to push him back. He bit into her lip. Blood ran down her chin.
She turned her face away scared for her life, unable to look at the man she once loved.

He started to kiss down her neck. He pulled the fabric of her dress over her shoulder and bit into her. she held her tears back. Her body was shaking, she held her tears back. Not wanting to give him the satisfaction of seeing her weak and squirming.

She let out a agonising scream. She froze. Was he to kill her. Is that what he wanted.

His hand ran up her leg, he forced his fingers into her.

"You cannot tell me you do not like this Pen"

His fingers thrust into her again and again.

"Your body is begging for more" he whispered in her ear. His breath hot and heavy.

She had a rush of pleasure, and let out a moan. Then it was replaced by a sick feeling to her stomach. Her body was reacting but she did not want him. Not like this. She squirmed under his burning gaze.

"Get off of me. Get off of me" her words shaking as her fists pounded into his chest.

He lifted her hand up, pinning them against a wall. Looking her up and down "Do you know how long Colin has waited for this. How long he has wanted you to moan under him. Now he won't be able to imagine it without seeing that look in your eyes of pure disgust" he laughed maniacally.

After he was done, he threw her against the pantry and she fell to the floor.

He walked off smug. Into the night.
