Ch 1: Dead-ucation

Robin and Vlad made their way to the canteen on Vlad's first day of human school. He's loving it, even his older sister Ingrid is enjoying the attention from all the boys, including her two minions- twins Ian and Paul- who also happen to be Robin's older, bully brothers.

"What is that?" A new voice asked as Vlad held up a dead cockroach from his sandwich. 

"I know right, spinach is so gross." Robin replied, acknowledging the person walking up to their table.

"Not that, is that a roach?" The girl asked, sitting down across from Vlad. He seemed starstruck. He was staring at Anna with wide, dreamy eyes and tuning his hearing in to her American accent that he'd never heard before. Robin nudged him. 

"S-sorry, what did you say?" Vlad asked. 

"Who are you?" Anna asked instead. 

"This is my new mate, Vlad." Robin replied for him. 

"New mate huh, be honest, did he pay you?" She leaned over and asked Vlad. Before he could respond, Robin nudged Anna's shoulder. 

"Not funny." He said and she chuckled. 

"Ok fine. I'm Anna, Robin's best mate. Although, it was 'only mate' before he met you." She said as a joke and Vlad chuckled, still in awe of her. 

"Not true, I've got friends." Robin said. 

"Who's got friends?" Robin's little sister Chloe asked as she sat down. "Not Robin, that's for sure." She added and Anna laughed. 

"Knock it off, it's not true. This whole table's full of my mates." Robin said. 

"I'm your sister, it doesn't count." Chloe replied making Anna laugh harder. 

"Some friends I've got." Robin said under his breath and crossed his arms in a slump. 

"Cheer up Robin, we're only having a bit of fun." Anna said, putting her hand on his shoulder and shoving him lightly. 

"Yeah, at my expense." Robin pouted. Then Vlad spoke up out of the blue. 

"You've got an accent." He said to Anna. 

"I do? Robin, do you think I've got an accent?" She asked. 

"Yes." He replied and she raised her eyebrows since she meant it as a joke. 

"Rude. But yeah, I'm from America." She replied to Vlad. 

"So cool. I've never met anyone from America." Vlad said. 

"Yeah, and I've never met anyone from- where are you from?" Anna asked. 

"He's from Transylvania." Robin said excitedly. 

"Romania." Vlad said, as was supposed to be the story. 

"Yeah, Transylvania's in Romania. Cool, I've never met anyone from there." Anna said. 

"How long have you lived here?" Vlad asked. 

"Two years. This is my third. I met Robin in year 5." Anna replied. 

"I was her first friend!" Robin said, trying to get back at her for the comments. 

"And I was yours." She said and smiled triumphantly.

Later in the day Chloe and Anna were walking together in the courtyard and walked up to the boys. They were talking but Anna and Chloe only heard what Robin said. "Well that's alright, you're dead already." He said like it was a good thing.
