Chapter 13

* Later That Night *

The Wonderers have all gathered for a Family Day tratition. The Wonderers and their parents come together and have a mini concert. Ellie and Rey are on the stage.

Rey and Ellie talked about doing a song about how they fell about each other. Ellie agreed, so they are now both stood on the stage with mics.

Ellie: you know i want you
It's not a secret I try to hide

So don't keep sayin' our hands are tied
You claim it's not in the cards

She looks into Rey's eyes

Ellie: What if we rewrite the stars?

Maybe the world could be ours

Rey: You think it's easy

Rey is looking into Ellie's eyes

They start to sing in sync.

They are coming closer and closer.

Ellie looks slightly sadder.

Ellie: You know I want you
It's not a secret I try to hide
But I can't have you
We're bound to break and my hands are tied

Rey and Ellie lower their mics, still making eye contact. Rey speaks without the mic, he can still be heard by the others.

Rey: you can have me, i'm ready

Ellie: really?

She smiles looking at Rey.

Rey: really, Chloe and i talked. i realised that it was now or never, and i'm not going to let this chance go

Ellie is smiling like crazy.

Rey: Ellie Liddel, will you be my girlfriend?

Ellie: of cource i will you goof

Ellie and Rey hug tightly. They then share a kiss as everyone cheers them. Ellie is holding Rey's face, Rey is holding Ellie's waist.

Rey sees his initials in a heart on her wrist. He smiles then motions to his wrist. Ellie sees her initials on his wrist the same place she drew his.

They leave the stage then go to the docs. They stand where they did a couple days ago. Rey wraps his arms around her waist while Ellie wraps her's around his neck.

Rey: do you remember what happened at this spot?

Ellie: you kissed me, and made a promise to be with me when you were ready.

Rey: it was, and now i've owned up to that promise. i felt it was only right i brought you here again, but as a couple this time.

Ellie: i'm happy that i can finally call you mine

Rey: i am too, i shouldn't have made you wait. after what happened with Chester i didn't want to be in another relationship, but after i caught feelings for you and had that talk with Chloe. i decided it was time, i just wish i had done this sooner.

Ellie: i get it. you aren't fully over him, i didn't expect you to be. so long as you love me, i don't care if you are over what you 2 had. i will do what i can to make him proud, and that is to show you the love he sadly can't show you anymore.

They put their heads together.

Rey: let's make a deal, our first son if we have one will be named after him.

Ellie: you read my mind

The new young couple share a laugh then share a kiss. Caleb is watching from beyond the trees, Chester next to him showing himself to Caleb.

Chester: they will be happy

Caleb: should have been you tho

Chester: maybe so. but i pulled a few strings for this to happen, i trust her to take care of him

Caleb: if you trust her, then i trust her

Caleb walks away, Chester slowly fades away smiling. Rey and Ellie decide to head home. Once there they go to Rey's room and cuddle up in his bed. They fall asleep not long after.
