Casey

I stood there speechless and watched as they brought her heart out, threw it on the ground and stepped on it until it bled out. I couldn't believe all of them put on an act just to break her in the end. She loved them all and even I craved for that love she held for all of them but I remained friend zoned.

To my surprise, for the first time since they started their plan to ruin her, Kate didn't drop a tear. She stood there, watched and listened right until a beautiful lady comes in and engulf her in a hug. The hug didn't last longer because Max had dragged the woman away and he began to question her why she could hug the person who wronged her. The lady explained that Kate was the one who saved her and the it clicked that everything they did, they targeted the wrong person.

I turned to tearless Kate who picked up the papers scattered on the floor, signed all of them without hesitation. Right after she just took a glance at everyone then brought me out of my trance. "Please, get me out of here  Casey." Her voice was void and emotionless. I could tell that this time, they have surpassed her limit to being kind and forgiving.

For a year, Kate was willing to stay with a man who abused her, take care of sisters who treated her like trash and a family that was very hostile towards her while placing her hope on everything will be fine eventually.

I took her to my car. Once we settled in, I noticed she was too quiet for this shit which was not very good. She needed to let the pain out and not stock it. I am pretty sure this was going to affect her health more.

"Say something Kate." I began. "Please say something." I begged her.

"What do you want me to say?" Her voice was laced with no emotion but I could dictate a tiny bit of pain and hurt.

"Anything. Scream, shout or cry, please."
This time she remained quiet and decided to not press it further. I didn't know what to do with this kind of situation.

When we were in town, Kate started hyperventilating.

"S-stop. I can't breathe." She gasped trying desperately to get air into her lungs. I slammed my feet on the breaks earning myself a series of car honks behind me. I ignored them and focused on my best friend. Before I can think of doing breathing exercises with her she was out the door and she fell on the grass of a park where she got the attention of almost everyone in the park. Some of them noticed she was Max's wife and they began to drew closer to her. I rushed over and motioned Kate to stand up. She was still struggling to breathe.

Just then I notice the blood out of her white dress she was wearing. My eyes widened.
"Someone call 911 please." That came out as a sob. I was crying for my best friend' s pain. When I looked around everyone was busy taking pictures with their mobile phones. What the fuckin' hell is wrong with this generation?

I didn't want to loose my best friend over a bunch of useless people so I helped up on my own. Luckily the car was near so I place in the backseat and made sure she was comfortable and even put on her seatbelt while the stupid idiots were still taking photos. Once I got to the driver's seat, I slammed on the accelerator while speed dialing Debra's number. Her phone rung twice after the whole car was filled with her voice.

"Casey, what's up?" She asked. "You know I'm busy right."

"D-debra, there is-s b-blood e-everywhere." I sobbed.

"Casey, what are you talking about?" Her voice changed into a worried one.

"Kate, she i-is bleeding. I t-think she is having a miscarriage." I sobbed once again.

"Casey, I need you to calm down now, okay?"

"Y-yes."

"Now tell me the situation she is in."

"She i-is not saying anything. Her eyes are droppy. She is not showing any signs of p-pain." Tears couldnt stop streaming down .

"Okay good. How far are you from the hospital?"

"6 minutes." That would be through dodging a few traffic laws. I couldn't stop for any robot to go green. I wasn't even sure if my best friend was going to survive this or not. I was scared for her life.

"Good. Now remember to keep her conscious. Do you understand, Casey? Don't make her loose consciousness. And pull over on the second ambulance deck."
I replied with an okay to which the call ended right after I heard Debra growling orders at some nurses I guess. Then I focused on making sure Kate remains conscious. She wasn't responding. She stared into space like she was in her own little bubble. This made me slum my foot again on the accelerator.

"Kate, please talk to me." I tried. " You go to let it out, please Kate." The last sentence I was sobbing through out.

It took only five minutes to reach the hospital and I had a tail of traffic officer who didn't give me a ticket due to the situation I had at hand. Thankfully.

Debra was already waiting at the door with a couple of nurses and another male doctor. Debra was in all tears when she saw the condition Kate was in. They took her in and checked her vitals while leading into a room where we were both stopped by the male doctor.

"You guys stay here. I will take it from here." The doctor said.

"No. I'm a doctor too. I should be in there " Debra sobbed out.

"No, Debra. You can't be in there. You asked for my help let me handle this. You know emotions are not good especially when someone's life is in question." Before she could respond.

"We are loosing her fast, Doctor Gabriel. Please come." A nurse said making us tense.

"I got this." He assured us.

"What the hell happened Casey?"

"It was all fake', Debra." I began and explained the whole scenario to her up until we were here.

"How could they do this to her?"

"Trust I myself by witnessing everything I got speechless."

Both of us couldn't stop pacing in the corridor waiting for the red light to switch off. We were both locked in our thoughts when suddenly the light goes out. We waited patiently for Doctor Gabriel to walk out with good news. Right then he appears and gave us all the heartbreaking news.

"She couldn't make it."
