What Lies Beneath

Chapter 2

With that, it's the last period on a Friday. I spent the last period working on my assignments, making sure I get them handed in, and when our teacher said goodbye, I quickly packed and left.

"There she is!!! We're heading to Aria's! You coming with??" Ellie ask, getting her helmet ready.

"Uhhh is that even a question?" I said with a slight chuckle.

"Let's roll! Sky is already at the front of the college, can't keep my lady waiting!!" She yelled, quickly running down the stairs. We chased after her and once we got through the college doors with a bunch of other kids running out in excitement, we quickly met up with Sky. Aria of course, having a quick make out sesh with her.

"Gross! Not in public please!" I said looking away.

"Sorry not sorry, is Ajax coming?" Sky ask and I checked my phone. Last message was read during lunch.

"I don't think-" My heart dropped, I saw Ajax, at the bus stop flirting and making out with a girl, not just any girl, but the girl I complained to him about.

"Sol? You okay?" Joshua ask, before looking where I was looking. "Oh that son of a-" I stopped him.

"..let's just fucking leave. This is after college hours." I said, getting on my skateboard and skating away. Soon enough, the gang followed and we made our way to Aria's place.

"..Don't worry about it Sol! Let's get fucking wasted tonight!!!" Ellie yelled and the others cheered. I was just pissed he'd backstab me with the specific girl I complained about.

Aria's place would be our usual hangout spot, because her parents are rarely around, and she's an only child and they are loaded. We'd hold countless parties there, of course, helping her clean up after the party.

We got there, and Aria opened the gates, letting us in before closing the gates again. We went inside her place and immediately, they started cheering, throwing their school bags away. I opened my phone, and saw the three dots on the messages from Ajax. I quickly switch the contacts to my uncle.

'Me:
Hey tito, might come home tomorrow morning or will come home absolutely wasted
Got absoluteky heartbroken
absolutely*
Ajax chested
cheated*

Fake papa:
Are you sure you're gonna drink it out? How about we talk about it?

Me:
i mean it's the last day of college and friends wanna get wasted

Fake papa:
Just make sure you know your way home
Mag iingat ha?
I'll get meds ready for when you come home

Me:
Thank you tito'

"Off the phone Vespertine!!!" Joshua yelled and I look up. They were holding Bacardi and Vodka, I smirk.

"Let's get fucking wasted!!!" I yelled as Dua Lipa plays in the built in speaker and I downed the shot that was given to me. What? Dua Lipa's actually got decent music.

Time check. 5:25 am? I think. My mind's fuzzy already, and I can barely keep myself up. I look around at the scene, my mates are all knocked out, Aria has hickeys all over her neck and chest, Sky slept on top of her. Joshua and Cole filled with lipstick marks, Ellie has her lips smudged with lipstick, and her favourite lipstick is, safe to say, destroyed on the ground. Even Sky and Aria have the same shade of lipstick on their faces. I look at the reflection on my phone, I'm the only one that's untouched. Hair's a mess but other than that, everything's still in tact. I cleaned up a bit, and noticed a bottle of vodka, half empty. Might as well.

I grab the bottle and chug it down before putting it in a trash bag, I can't let it go to waste. I look through Aria's fridge, and saw my beloved, hash browns. I quickly fried some, still wobbling, but hey I manage to clean up. I look through my phone.

"Asshole." I mutter, before grabbing my cooked hash browns. I made sure everything was off and grab a tissue paper, and a pen, and wrote down a message.

lets meet as much as we can through the summer and go shopping for dorm stuff one day

I grab my book bag, and my skateboard, and left. Surprisingly, after that half a bottle of Vodka I feel strangely sober..

I skate back to my place, no car in sight, so I can freely skate down as the sun was rising. I put my headphones on and played Lights by Ellie Goulding, such a classic. I took in a deep breath of the morning air, and it smells nicely fresh. I know I'll regret this later, I might not be able to get up after I hit home.

I finally got home, and opened the door with my key when it hit me.

"Fuck, I owe the girls a tea party.. and Lys a pirate game.." I mutter to myself, leaving my stuff on the couch and locking the door before going upstairs to my shared room. I open the door, and saw Kallias and Kouki asleep on their beds. I couldn't be bothered to climb up the stairs as the drunkness is finally hitting me when it should've hit me earlier, and lay down on the carpet floor... this is oddly comfortable...

I took my socks off and reached for one of Kouki's many pillows and hugged it, getting comfortable in the floor. I opened my phone and decided to send Ajax one last message.

I finally blocked him everywhere, before simply closing my phone and passing out.

Kallias would always be the first to wake up, he usually would get chores done in the morning left by the young ones. He sat up and punched the bed on top of him, listening for any groaning and rustling, whoch he received none. Assuming Solar still wasn't home, he got his phone and started to phone her as he grabs his glasses to get up. He was then redirected to voice mail.

"Solar, get home soon, we're- AHHHH!!!" He cut himself off with a frightful and loud scream, almost stepping on Solaria's body. The scream woke up Kouki, Bonnie and Marcelo, as well as Selline, Aeri, and Lysander. Woke everyone but Solaria.

"WHAT?! WHAT HAPPENED?!" Bonnie yelled, bursting through the door.

"God I got scared by Solar!" Kallias exclaim, Marcelo let out a sigh of relief, knowing Solaria's home safe. Bonnie hits Solar's bum with her slipper to check if she's still alive, and there was no reaction. They all froze. Until a loud snore came right after from her and they all sigh in relief.

Meanwhile, over at Aria's residency; Sky got woken up with a foul smell. She looks up to see black smoke from the kitchen.

"OH MY GOD!!" She yelled, waking everyone up and seeing the black smoke. It punched the drunk out of everyone and started getting into action, running around, trying to get rid of the fire and smoke. Luckily they finally got rid of it, it was a burnt bag of hash browns, and all stoves and ovens were turned on. Solar unknowingly turned them all on instead of off.

The message on the toilet paper was also too illegible to read. As well as she took someone else's bag instead of hers.
