Chapter 16 |back to square one|

"Hey,you alright?.....I saw Amelia storming out so I decided to check on you." Zane says

It's still lunch time and I'm still in the cafeteria. Just staring at the now empty space were Blondie was, wondering if it was me she just threatened.

Ugh. Of course it's me.
I'm the only one at this table.

"Uhm" Zane says again, bringing me out of my thoughts.
"Mhm?......yeah,yeah. I'm fine. Thanks"

I know Zane is one of Xavier's friends but I don't really give two fucks.

Like, she can't tell me what to do or who to talk to and not talk to. I'll stop talking to them when I want. Not because she told me to.

Besides,I can't stop talking to people that did nothing wrong to me and she didn't give any good reasons on why I should stop talking to them so like yeah. I'm gonna do the exact opposite.

"Okay. So how've you been?.... it's been long since I last saw you or spoke to you" he says
"We saw and spoke to each other last week Zane" I say in a tired tone while taking a bite of my cheese burger.

If anything is meant to give me enough energy to go through the rest of the day,then it's food.

Food. Is. Life. People!

"Oh yeah. That's right. Well,why don't you come sit with us. At least to have a little company" he offers.
"Uhm....sure" I say and we get up and walk to the table were Xavier and the rest of his friends are sitting.

Guess who's sitting with Xavier and his friends.

Don't get me wrong, Amelia is my friend but I don't like the way she spoke to me or the way she handled the Xavier issue.

It was childish of her to end things without actually letting him explain. I understand her though. If I saw a picture of my boyfriend kissing another girl,I would have gone full John Wick mode.

Or maybe I should stop talking to Xavier until I find out what actually happened. Which won't be hard cause I barely talk to the dude anyways.

I take a sit between Kyle and Zane then continue eating. I take a quick glance at Xavier who is already looking at me with a blank expression.

What is he thinking?
His expression makes it so difficult to know.

Damn he's good.

He looks away and continues eating and I do so too.

Jordan stretches his hand and takes one of my french fries and I stare at him as he shoves it in his mouth. He stretches his hand again to take another one but this time I slap his hand away.

"Come on.... it's just two french fries.....or the whole plate" he whines.
"No" I say and take a sip of my chocolate milkshake.

Chocolate gonna make you feel betterrrr!!!!

"Oooooooh,can I have that too?" He asks me while giving me puppy dog eyes.
"You had yours"I say
"Yeah.....HAD.....as in past tense. Meaning that it's all finished"
"Too bad" I say and he pouts which makes me to roll my eyes.

The bell goes off as I take the last bite of my cheese burger.

Let's do this.

I walk out of the cafeteria with my half remaining milkshake in my hand.

"Thank you" Jordan says as he takes the milkshake from my hand and walks away with Xavier, Jayden and Zane.

My milkshake.

"JORDANNN!!!!" I shout
"Love you too" he shouts back

He's lucky I'm too lazy to run after him.

"Shall we?" Kyle says from my right.
"Sure" I say as I collect my books from my locker and we walk to the next class.

I see Amelia in class and the conversation in the cafeteria comes to my mind.

I walk to my sit beside her and sit down.

"I told you to stop talking to his friends but you went ahead to sit with them"
"What has gotten into you?" I ask her
"I should be asking you that. I thought we were friends"she says while looking at me.
"We are. But friends don't control their friends"I say and she sighs.
"Okay I'm sorry for how I spoke to you earlier. I'm also sorry I told you to stop talking to them. Don't expect me to talk to them though."
"All is forgiven"
"Thanks" she says and smiles at me.
"Alright class. Listen up" our math teacher says as he enters the class.

Ughhhhhhhh!!!!!!!

"Finally. I can go home to my soft bed"
"I don't know you that well but I've noticed that you're always tired" Blondie says and laughs.

Well,waking up by 3 every morning cause of stupid nightmares tends to drain all your energy.

"Hey Aves" Kyle says and swings his hands on my shoulder as we walk out of the school building.
"Aves?"
"Yeah. Ava......Aves"he says
"Lord no" I say while pinching the bridge of my nose.
"Do you like it?" He asks me
"No"
"Good. The name's staying" he says and I face palm myself.
"Hey Amelia" he says and waves to Amelia who walks away without replying.
"What's up with her?" Zane asks as we approach them and Kyle and I shrug in response.

"Get your hands off her" Zane says to Kyle who backs away and raises his hands in defence.
"Hey pretty lady" he says while giving me his pretty smile.
"Hi" I say while looking around the parking lot to see if I can spot Amelia but I can't.

Did she leave?

"If you're looking for Amelia,I saw her heading towards the gate" Jayden says.

I really need to find out what happened so she can talk to them again.

"Anyways,uhm.... can I have your number?" Zane asks nervously which catches Xavier's attention.
"Sure" I say and give him my number.
"Why do you want a creep's number?" Xavier asks Zane and I can feel the annoyance and anger boiling inside me.

Guess we're back to square one.

And I really thought we were starting to tolerate each other's presence.
