Tonight was a beautiful Night, The day Rody quit his job, he was overjoyed that he finally, just finally had enough to get back his girlfriend. Even so, Take her out on a beautiful night like this, the moon was so bright, it reminded Rody of her smile, Manon's smile always shined bright, he'll never get over how beautiful she is, She was just like a Angel, Beautiful, Kind, Caring. Rody thought.. as he was walking to the phone booth, It was late at night, since he doesn't have a watch he couldn't even look at the time but he'd assumed the time is just right, some restaurants were still open, especially Manon's favorite one. And he was grateful it was because today was the day he will make her happy. As he walked into the phone booth he immediately pressed the buttons, As he put the phone next to his ear he can hear the ringing tone of the phone,
"Hey Manon, I can finally take you out for dinner tonight, do you-"
Rody's sentence gets cut off with a beep,"Your Call Cannot Be Connected."
Rody takes the phone off of his ear to look at it, confusion. The only feeling he has, genuinely started to worry, if she hasn't picked up for a week wouldn't that mean she's busy? No. She would definitely pick up, maybe she didn't hear her phone ringing?
He dialed her number again.
"Manon! I just wanted to know if I could take you out, or I can come over if your not hungry I-"
"Your Call Cannot Be Connected."
Rody pauses, his sentence cut off again.
He won't stop trying, he'll do anything to get her back, she was his everything."Manon, Hello? Are you there? Please resp-"
"Your Call Cannot be Connected."
Rody stood there, his arm starts to shake, He feels like he can cry a whole river, Why won't she pick up? Is something wrong? He pondered.
He dialed again.
"Manon please pick up, I.. I need to know that you're at least there, please let me hear your voice actually. I need to know if you're okay.."
"Your Call Cannot Be Connected"
Rody didn't know if he can keep calling, he was running out of money each call he made.
He began to start crying, he didn't want to cry, he didn't want to. really.
Maybe he just needed to go home and try again tomorrow, maybe she's asleep?
He can barely breathe, tears flowing down his cheek onto the floor of the phone booth, he feels like he did something wrong now, work again maybe? Would working more get Manon back? If he just made more money would she come? He knows she isn't like that.
He leans onto the phone booth wall sobbing, he wondered what he's even doing, this is just embarrassing to even do.
He didn't need anyone, just Manon. He wanted everything to go back as it was, only if he didn't mess up Manon would be here.
His cries started to get louder, sniffling and hiccuping, at this rate he can feel his legs giving out he could swear he can see someone across the street, which was the last thing he saw before he passed out.
When he woke up he was on Vincent's couch, confused and his mind racing, Was this all a dream? Or was him passing out in the phone booth a dream. Obviously not he had the same clothes on when he thought he would take Manon out, he noticed Vincent come out of his kitchen, both staring at each other, awkward situation.
"Vincent?" Rody said as he stared directly into Vincent eyes, he feels like if he doesn't look right Vincent will lecture him for it.
"I found you passed out in the phone booth, were you trying to call that girlfriend of yours?" Vincent responded, looking nonchalant as always, Vincent then sat down across from Rody on his, very uncomfortable couch.
"You can go home if you want, if I catch you at that phone booth passed out I won't bother to even help again." Vincent said as he stared at Rody, it sort of creeped him out how he can keep a straight face while talking like that to him.
"Vincent, I don't feel like being alone please let me stay." Rody said, he felt like he was gonna burst into tears again thinking about Manon and how she never answered his phone calls.
"Just this once Rody." Vincent responded as he put his hand on Rody's back, patting it. Rody just put his head onto Vincent's shoulder. He was sad that he didn't have Manon, but he's at least a bit happy that he has Vincent here with him.
