(8) Voting system

Amelia's pov

Annabeth and I were at Thalia's tree waiting for Percy and Grover. I couldn't stop thinking about Luke. Something was off about him. Before I could tell Annabeth about the situation, she started pulling me along somewhere as I yelped before I could hear Percy. "The most powerful being in the universe's best idea to save his daughter's life was to turn her into a tree?"

"She was the bravest Demi God I ever knew", Annabeth chimed him, letting me go as I brushed the dirt off my flare jeans. "She fought valiantly, and she met a hero's fate.

"She met a pinecones fate." I hid my laugh before Annabeth could notice. I never knew Thalia, but Annabeth would tell me stories about her and their friendship, so I know she means a lot to Annabeth.

"Forbidden children are always in danger, even the strongest ones, even Thalia. And you are not Thalia. Do exactly as I say, and maybe you will survive this. Are we clear? Annabeth started to move away as I played with the hem of my hoodie. I looked up to see Percy looking at me. Before I could open my mouth, Annabeth called. "Amelia!"

"Coming!" I jogged away for Percy and Grover and followed Annabeth. This was going to be a long quest.

We took a cab, and next thing you know, we were on a stinking bus. Like...ew... Percy took a seat at the back next to the toilets, so I sat next to him before Annabeth pulled me up. "Grover, you sit next to Percy, and Amelia, you come with me." I looked at Percy before following Annabeth. We arrived at a gas station, and I started to stand up. 

"Okay, I'm going to get us some snacks."

"I'll come with you", Percy said really fast as you looked at me.

"No, you will stay right there." Annabeth pushed him down before he could reach to me. That was kinda cute for him to come with me. Wait-

"Why, it smells terrible back here."

"Monster can't smell you through that, so that's where I want you."

"I wanna vote. Who thinks we should all get a breath of fresh air and buy our snacks?"

"Sorry, Percy, but there's no voting. Annabeth is right. Chips and soda okay for you guys?" I asked

"Can you get me a chocolate bar?" Grover asks.

"Of course." I start to move before Percy speaks again.

"I don't think you and Annabeth get to decide if we should vote or not"

"I'm sorry to hear that." I am surprised Annabeth is very calm speaking to Percy normally, she would start fighting them.

"Okay, I want to vote if you get to decide if we vote or not."

"Grover, please do something," I ask, tired of all this bickering. Before I know it, Grover starts clapping as we all look at him, confused. "Grover?"

"I really don't want to be a tiebreaker. I have a better idea." Grover starts singing the consensus song, but Percy cuts him off and asks what he's doing.

"So..chips and soda are okay for you guys and chocolate bar for Grover?" I asked, confused about what just happened.

"Whatever."

"Yes, please."

Me and Annabeth start to leave the bus and start grabbing random snacks. As we hand the lady at the store the money. I noticed something weird and turned to Annabeth as she was already looking at me with the same facial expression. We started walking to the bus I walked ahead of Annabeth so she could become invisible and I could give the boys the snacks. "Here you go"

"Thanks."

Something was up with Percy was he mad at me about the voting?

"Guys, you need to open that window now!" 

"I don't think these windows are supposed to"

"Grover, just open the window!" I yell before smashing the window open. "Come on, let's go!"

We all quickly jumped out the window and made our way to a forest.
