Sam was happy because, like every year, she was assigned Mary as her roommate. Again, like packing, unpacking was not at all difficult for Sam. All she had to do was wave her hand a few times and she had everything lined up on the shelves. Once Mary had unpacked as well, they went together to the Slytherin common room to talk to their classmates and Blake. When the fun was at its best, Sam looked at her watch in dismay. 7:58! How could she have forgotten about the detention? She quickly said goodbye to her classmates and ran to Snape's classroom.
She knocked on the door of his classroom at exactly 8. "Come in," came from behind the door. "You're right on time, I'm surprised, you weren't too keen on punctuality last year, were you?" Sam shook her head and noticed Snape smile for a moment, no, she was definitely wrong, this dungeon bat never smiles. Snape suddenly frowned as if he had heard her, she hadn't said that out loud had she? "Professor, I'm not entirely sure why I'm here." Sam asked.
"It's not that you've done anything, except let me read in peace, that is," said Snape. "I called you in today mainly for the Consulate, about Potions lessons. I know you've passed all the theory exams so far, but I don't want you blowing up my classroom when you attempt Potions again this year."
Sam was unnerved, she knew that her previous attempts at mixing the potion had been terrible to say the least, but she still didn't understand why Snape had summoned her. "I'm sorry sir, but I don't yet understand what the purpose of this conversation is." Snape stood up from his desk and walked towards Sam. She had never noticed how her heart skipped a beat every time he looked at her, and only now did she seem to realize that Professor Snape wanted to help her, so maybe he wasn't such a curmudgeon as her classmates said. "The thing is, Miss Roberts, I'm offering you private tutoring, only because I want our school and your classmates to stay together for your experiments, of course."Sam smiled. "Thank you, I wasn't expecting that, when do we start?" Snape moved even closer to her and said with an ironic smile. "How about now? You're in detention anyway, am I right?"
Snape's view:Noticing that she looked different from years past, he stood up to get a closer look, what had changed? Why couldn't he stop looking at her at dinner? He had never seen anyone as innocent and yet as beautiful as her. And whether he wanted to accept the truth or not, ever since he'd noticed she was reading the same book he was, he couldn't help wanting to see her as often as he could."Get your cauldron and textbook off the shelf, and get your wand ready. You'll be learning how to prepare Amortenia in my class tomorrow, so I'll prepare you a bit."
Sam did everything he told her to do as he sat at the table preparing his materials, she was doing fine until she started stirring. "Miss Roberts, what direction should you stir in, it's written in your textbook." He said, getting up from the table and standing behind her. "Like this, in slow movements, or your potion will explode again, like last year." He said, taking her hand and wand in his to show her how to stir. A surge of electricity shot through their bodies, the fact that they touched each other was something neither of them expected. "Anyway, that's enough for today." He said, trying not to let it show how upset he was.
