Hangul ( pronounced hangeul ) is the Korean alphabet who has only 24 letters, 14 consonants and 10 vowels.

Wikipedia :
Modern Hangul orthography uses 24 basic letters: 14 consonant letters and 10 vowel letters. There are also 27 complex letters that are formed by combining the basic letters

But let's start with the basics letters :
ㅏ: a >  apple
ㅓ: oe >  lol
ㅗ : o > choreography
ㅜ : oo > book
ㅡ : eu > uh
ㅣ : i > three

If you add a line for each letters, you create a y sound for exemple ㅏ (a) , if you add a line it create ㅑ which is sounded ya

: ya
ㅕ: yeo
: yo
: yoo

You see ! You already learned the voyels ! Now for the consonants it's getting a little bit more difficult but don't worry, you're already doing great !

ㅂ : b
ㅈ : j
ㅊ : ch
ㄷ : d
ㄱ : g
ㅋ : k
ㅅ : s
ㅁ : m
ㄴ : n
ㅇ : no sound (I will explain it later)
ㄹ : r / l
ㅎ : h
ㅌ : t
ㅍ : p

GREAT JOB you just learned the 24 letters of the Korean alphabet. Isn't it incredible ? That's enough for today ! But before we end today's lesson, tell me something ! What sound does this make ? ㅓ : ?

The answer was oe like in lol.

Now we need to learn the complex vowels, it's a mix between different vowels.

ㅐ: ae
ㅒ: yae ( because we added one line )
ㅔ: ae
ㅖ: yae
ㅘ : wa
ㅙ : wae
ㅚ : wi
ㅝ : weo
ㅞ : wae
ㅟ : oui ( yup like in French )
ㅢ : eui

To be honest, learning all of them as a beginner is a little bit useless, just practice your basic alphabet for now !

See you later for the next lesson !
